  1. couldn't you just get 1 .22lr with changeable barrels and set it up so that one .22 barrel has a scope mounted on it for HV and one for subs on the other barrel? or doesnt the scope sit on the barreels on those rifles? just a thought
  2. If Im on a pemission for crop protection and stuff I'll take the kits if there aint anything biggger about cos a rabbits a rabbit and if it aint already big and eats lots then its genna get big and eat lots having said that I only do that in close proximity to crops where they are actually causing damage
  3. there seem to be a few dropping onto the bean on one of my airgun permissions
  4. well done mate sounds like a good hunt, nothing better then when you pull off a real cracker like that
  5. I take it that you mean 15 yards? and also (sorry if no brainer) I take it that subs need a lot more lead then the normal carts, because part of the reason that I use my 410 as much as I do is to practice judging lead and everything because the 12b doesn't come out as much as Id like it to and most of the shots are at 30 yard woodies going pretty fast so I really need a quick cartridge atb
  6. Yes it doe's mate subsonic means they travel slower than the speed of sound, hence less noise. Sounds a bit like a plank of wood falling over. I use mine on ground where there are Cattle, horses and houses nearby and i have had no complaints up to yet. No sorry i didnt make that clear, i know what subs are I just meant whether the hushpower makes much difference to noise levels of normal carts
  7. does it make much difference to normal carts
  8. Does anyone use the above, as i am thinking of replacing my yildiz tk36 with one and was just wondering if anyone has got any views on it or any advice? and also I know that you can buy subs for it but how well does it quieten down the normal, say 16g carts? atb ratty
  9. i would much rather have a beretta 303 than a new escort IF i didnt do alot of goose flighting on the foreshore unless i could find a suitable (safe) non-toxic cartridge that would go through the beretta they are a much better gun and hold ther value as for shooting foxes...the majority of foxes shot with shotgun are shot on small game/rough shoots when flushed, more than likely with 30-32g 6's but when i purposely go out for a fox with the shotgun (not often, centrefire is the best tool for the job) i use winchester magnum XX 2 1/4oz buffered shot cracking cartridge that holds grea
  10. Well spotted, had meant to say "remainder of the magpies"... Think my fingers where somewhat ahead of the brain when typing that lot, can't unfortunatly edit it any longer ok didnt think you would but it was one of those moments but any way well done and good shooting hopefuly more will follow for you
  11. Good shooting and very well done on the magpie because they are incredibly difficult to get without a shottie just one thing-I take it that when you say "blackbirds" you mean rooks and crows and stuff
  12. We lost about 23 chickens to a fox about a fortnight ago and me dad snared a dog fox and all went quiet around our way although people kept loosing them in the nearest village. All in all these foxes (note foxes)accounted for around 100 birds. Anyway, out after the woodies with airrifle this mornin and wasnt expecting to see a fox but there was one about 70 yards off so I got down on my belly and crawled of to get the shottie. When I got back it was gone so I gave it a little squeak and sure enough charlie popped out of the tree line about 20 yards away. I shouldered the 12b Laurona eibar and
  13. Have thought about buying one its more that the groupings have dropped a ranges when they used to be high thanks for the advice though
  14. The reason that I think its underpower is because its zeroed at 15 yds and the highest point of trajectory is 15, and it isnt as accurate as it was (this isnt human error because I comapred a couple of targets one that was when the gun was new and the other recently and they were both shot from sandbags) I will give the AA dealer (churchills of Dereham) a buzz and see what cost is like and exactly what they will do and might compare with a couple of other dealers Will keep you posted Thanks for all the advice atb Ratty
  15. Been asked to have a pop at doing one of these recently never done it before but have done a few whole skulls. Had a think and the plan is to skin the top of its head and have a look as it was a humane despach with a .22 rimmy and the fella thinks he might have got it too high. if he has then I will just hacksaw the antlers but if its ok then Im going to start at the back and saw from just behind the antlers to about 3" in front. Little bit concerned about BSE and brain tissue and all that though Any old hands out there willing to give a bit of advice would be greatfully recieved R
  16. As stated above my s410 is in dire need of service i'm pretty sure its shooting underpower aswell 18 months old bought from new and probs needs an annual check. Its taken a few knocks and is certainly a well worked gun. Wanting to get it chroned and tweaked if necessary and a full service. Should I take it backto the air arms 'recommended' dealer or will any half decent gunshop do, unless anyone can recommend any one in Bury st edmunds area of suffolk Advice gratefully recieved
  17. I t also depends on what kind of shooting you do, if it is clays and driven etc then Most say the longest lenght that you can handle, because you have more 'pointability' so you are more accurate (just what I have been told as i was in your situation last year) but if you are in a hide decoying or roost shooting with twigs and vines and stuff that will get in the way then you want a shorter barrel. having said that I shoot with a 28" and a 26" and cant tell the difference when I shoot so its personal preference really
  18. Hello everyone I'm new to the forum so thought I'd better introduce myself I'm fourteen but have been shooting for about 3 years now with airguns, mainly controlling rabbits, squirrels and pigeons (all of which go to the pot), but also rats and corvids because we keep chickens and rear chicks which are threatened by these. We also have a couple of pigs and bees and Im interested in countryside affairs generally. Last year I got a shotgun license and now shoot a o/u laurona eibar 12b and also a .410 yildiz TK 36 single barreled for use around the animals. I am trying to get into pigeon
