    The european polecat is the ancestor of the ferrets we have today. That's where the name polecat comes from, it refers to the dark colour of the ferret hence looking like a polecat. The European polecat was domesticated many moons ago and tamed to be used by hunters for rabbits. Over time this produced the ferret and is what we have today.     Blankets in the sleeping area, woodshavings on half the hutch were try shit and the other half bare. I would use savings all over but my cage has a flaw in that the doors open downwards and I've you open the doors the shavings get trapped underneath the bottom of the door and it's hard to shut. Maybe if I put a thin piece of wood just inside the door it may stop the shavings doing this? I made a litter tray out of wood as a tester for the big run and they use it fine.     The bitch is doing fine. Had her in the field at the back for a wee run and she's loving it. Don't use a lead when taking her out to the garden so she's getting used to not being on the lead. On the other hand I have been using the lead more on the field and the first time was hard work but she's walking much better now. She's only had one jag so I'm keeping her away from everything just now. She's slotted in just fine but I've had to put mesh on my fence because in the night when I take her for a wee, once she's had it she fucks off back into the house and I'm searching for her all bloody nig
