some people just cant grasp it ok hancock is breeder of many pups year in year out but if he selling them then their must be a market also he been doing it for years so he must be doing something right or he be soon out of pocket the people who knock him are the people who cant train apup as after all the saying is if the pup turns out shite you only got yourself to blame how many of us on here can honestly say a fault in our dogs ability was down to mistakes we our self made and not blame the breeder or the dog not many most of us at sometime or other want to breed our dogs and the sur

No they not from working parents but they're not claimed to be..........I've not seen a Hancock dog that given the right training hasn't turned into a decent rabbiting dog,all aspects of rabbiting.I've also owned some very decent dogs for other stuff pre-ban. why would anyone want to by a pup from pets (litter dogs)to work when they are loads of pups bred from good working stock? Not saying they should mate but to label them all pot-lickers is a little short-sighted imo. true. i can not comment on all just the ones ive seen with my own eyes. some of them were crap dogs and s

i been lamping now 20 odd years mate and still get a buzz more so when im trying new places and going out with new friends and their dogs every nights diffrent and love the poaching side better than on permmision as the thrill is in the not getting caught as well as the running of me dogs over the years have had highs and lows and several time been going to pack it all in but cant get the same buzz out of anything like my lamping and dogs -
Thought so.........they any good on rabbits? people say start with a pup and you only got yourself to blame if it turns out shite but this doesnt seem to apply if you buy one of hancock so many people on here seem to have double standards is not a pup which is 100 per cent the breed man said it is better than a pup of breeding uncertain how many of the knockers would knock any dog they spoilt while traing and say its my fault and not the dogs not many i dont keep hancocks myself these days but nowt against the dogs or hancock and would buy one again

Would you rather go to him for a pup or get a pup out of two of his dogs (or any collie x's) that had been well tested? I'm a bit slow mate not retarded .........of course I'd get a pup of tested parents, anybody in there right mind would but not everybody as that luxury. One advantage with Hancock is you know 100% what your getting not all breeders are as truthful. this subject always gets people fighting and bickering as a one time owner of hancock bred dogs i can say that the man is true to his word and only breeds what he believes are going to be good dogs after all they are p

ive always fed rabbits to my dogs cooked and raw as long as gutted and cleaned its ok and if your dog is messing round instead of straight back to you then id suggest trying him back to basic training for a while or a very long lead and real bunny dead tossed for dog to retrieve if it dont come straight back gentle tug on lead and the command to come to you if not back then tug aGAIN but with more tone in voice the dog will get the message if this done till its coming back ok may take two or three days of this to improve the dogs retrieve bunnys in the fields but works for me

before the ban on fox hunting deer were still off the menu as they were not legal to take and kill with dogs as i understand it but that put a side deer are were a formidable quarry for the average pot filling lurcher the smaller deer ie roe munjac and water deer can and often were taken by dogs of average size and weight but when you move up a size to fallow and reds you talking some times life and death stuggles and dogs dont always come out the winner ive heard of dogs being impalled on racks and of dogs being booted in head or ribs causing masive cuts of deers sharp hoofs

getting weight on my lurcher dog
coney clucky replied to coney clucky's topic in Working Dog Health & Training Talk
if the dog is happy in himself then i wouldn't worry bout it, if he dont eat what you give him in 10 mins lift it , try it a few hours later,,you stressing bout his feeding is probably causing stress in him at the same time, leading to a self fulfilling loop, dont worry bout it too much, never had a dog starve himself to death yet, although wished some of the sooners i had in the past would have,, thanks lads think i take him to vets just to be on safe side as he good dog and want him right asap cheers -
hi their i have 27tts bull cross lurcher dog he is 19 month old and ive had problems with is eating and putting weight on him he looks awfull and ive wormed him flead him tried all types of food which he will eat well for two or three days then go off ive been in contact with previous owner who told me he was always fed real meat such as tripe and dog mince ive had him on this food now for just over aweek and he now just picks at it when i take him on walks he bounces alover and seems happy but he looks starved any advice would be very helpfull as his condition is doing my head in tried

Very distinctive bitch Stolen
coney clucky replied to sussexpoacher's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
i think if the dog stolen was taken from kennels to be worked then if they went to all the trouble of stealing it they either no the dog and must have not had money to get it back out as some of these places are expensive to claim back your dogs from or thet just stole it to make quick pounds either way they stole it and i am of the view that if it was their dog and it was picked up by warden and couldnt pay to get it back then they shouldnt have the dog but if it was lost on nights poaching and they dont want to admit to it so took the dog then goodluck what was the secumstances the dog was -
in the late 90s i was lamping one night in december and caught a tiny leveret in stuble fields just outside sunderland that must have been well early bred it was that small dogs and me didnt see it till right up on it and i grabbed it and put in cover but ive not noticed a lot of diffrence in speed or stamina in hares at any time of the season myself but thats probably as my dogs got lot bull in them and make a meal of catching them at any time ha ha my view is if the hares had a lot of dogging then they off like shit of a stick if not been doged then you can get lot closer and they dont se
