my dogs are tools of the trade it might seem harsh but its the way it is i feed them best of food treat them with care and atention and owt wrong gets sorted at once but if they dont do the job im afraid they are out no ifs or buts a dog thats shite is no good to no one and eats the same as a goodun fact most are pts if not suited for pets -

what part of lurcherwork appeals to you most?
coney clucky replied to mynirvana's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
what keeps me going out lamping is me and my dogs wits against the quarry and the fact that no two nights or runs are the same love the thrill of the chase its not the amount of gear in the bag at end of the night but the quality time spent out with dogs on own or with couple of good mates -
iceman mate been their had one and seen plenty just as i say not for me mine was well racey looking but just couldnt stop it hunting up when it missed and others i seen much the same mate no dout their be one or two gooduns about but as lurcher they not my choice a t b mate have a good season

lot of people feeding proper cooked meat ie tripe minced beef and chicken i think this type of food is better than the bland bagged up dried food but some people have to feed this as getting fresh tripe and other meat just isint convenient or practical you seem to be happy as to your dogs health and well being so as long as dogs ok then spot on ya mate

just my views but think this cross is not worth a toss as a true running lurcher the ones ive seen hunt up to fck and aint got any bottle this is going to anger pointer cross runners but why the fck do people mess with this cross when theirs plenty tried and tested breeds to cross with the greyhounds to make up a decent lurcher a pointer is what it says to point out quarry the breed was never bred to chase down quarry and is very nose led

dont get me wrong mate not knocking anyone who drives the fields and im only saying what i belive but to me cant get better than walking as ive said before the bags i got were great but the night didnt seem the same as when walking
-
walking the fields does two things keeps dog fit and me aswell even when nowt about the dogs getting good walk out thats what i missed when driving fields i know the lads whith subarus and4x4 motors get bad press but done right and on permmission it can be good way to increase the ground you cover and the bag size but for me the walk out and the crack to and from the feilds is what lamping all about my view is that a dog walked up on quarry will always be fitter than the dog that is let out of motor just behind its intended catch dogs trained from the motor to lamp in my view take
-
for twenty odd years i walked the fields and had some great bags and some good crack wi fellow hunters last year i was driven allover fields by mate as me leg was knackered while out walking fields i broke it in two places and to be honest the bags we got were unbeliveable never got as much before walking but i never intended to keep doing it that way and it takes for me the buzz out of hunting as half the time i was worried about the position the dogs were in relation of the motor and the other looking for dykes and rocks the 4x4 lads cant all be to blame for our sport getting bad pres
