  1. I know what you mean but if it had been a bit lower i would have had teeth like shane mc gowan or a bit higher i would have been blinded or dead. Cant say as it felt lucky when it impacted but i certainly think it could have turned out a lot worse.
  2. I have been waiting for my friend to send me a leaflet from the charity so that i can put their web address up for anyone who wants to check it out can do so.http://www.b-i-r-d.org.uk is the website I have no idea how to create a just giving page joe so would be grateful to anyone who can help me out with that. I will try and pop down at the weekend dave if i get the chance but i am currently digging 200 lugworms every other day as padstow angling centres regular guy is layed up with this virus and as you know im not used to this work malarky.
  3. Yes mate i was lucky really. It could have been a lot worse.
  4. It was sore flacko. The dark line nearest my mouth was where the lead hit me, i could poke my tongue out through it, which the mrs didnt seem to find amusing.
  5. Yes it was dave. On the improvement front i think it changed me from looking like uncle fester to looking like sloth off the goonies.
  6. This is what happens when you dont get out of the way when your mates distance casting a 5oz lead.
  7. anybody on here ever meet him.?? I met him when he did a favour for the royal albert ratting club. He seemed a pleasant enough bloke and came and sat and had a chat with a few of the local lads. Not saying every word in his books was true but they were a good read.
  8. Thats probably because you wanted to be fishing or rabbiting but were forced to go to school. I was exactly the same.Spent more time daydreaming about fishing and bird nesting than thinking about school work . Only im too old for them to have come up with a posh name for it when i was there.
  9. Ok mate thanks a lot. it shouldnt be too bad really. there is just a small piece of ground that needs a bit of attention so that it will be fit for camping on. most of the areas we can camp are pretty good already. im hoping to get down to yours and have a day on the river or whatever youre doing. Im going to try and sort a boat trip if enough fancy it but it may prove a bit expensive. I can always take a few shore fishing and try and get a few fresh mackerel for the barbie.
  10. Congratulations on your new arrival mate. Come on down we can all help you wet the babies head[and make yours ache lol]. Just spoken to martin who has had a word with the owner of the lakes and we are ok to camp besides the lakes and around the car park. This will require some work by Dytkos but i will give him a hand if im not fishing
  11. Thats my fault walshie , as far as computers go im as thick as fcuk.[Actually im completely disinterested in them]Cheers for sorting it. As far as the charity goes im open to suggestions if anyone has a particular one they support. I have a friend whos young lad is being helped by a charity called B.I.R.D.[brain injury recovery and development]as he suffered epilepsy as an infant which has resulted in brain trauma. My other choice would be Help for heroes
  12. Could you please put your name and whether you are going to be fishing the match or just attending the weekend please. Thanks, Robbo. 13. As Walshie has suggested i am going to start a thread so that people can start putting their names down for attending /fishing. Can you let me know which you are doing please.
  14. Oh dear i fear my good boy points have just plummeted. Was talking to the wife about the comp. and she asks when is it. Either the 13th/14th or 20th/21st of august says i but one of the blokes cant make it on the later one. Well i thought you would want to be at home on the 20th/21st of august says the wife. Why whats happening says i ,its our wedding anniversary says she. Taxiii
  15. Ive been to see martin at the garage dave and he is going to see the owner about us camping round the pond for the match sometime this week. Ithink if he is going to let us it wont make any difference when we have the match. Kev. if you want the match on the 13th/14th then thats when we shall have it. To be honest thats a better weekend for me as i have my annual boys fishing week in sept.down at harlyn sands. So i need a gap between to build my good boy points back up.
  16. The last two have been roundabout 16th/ 18th of august so i can sort it for either of these two weekends just wondered if anybody had a preference. Bank holiday weekend is 27th/28th this year. If nobody has a preference i will arrange it for 20th/21st of august . Just book them both off jonah and have a week down here. I will take you to do some proper fishing.
  17. To be honest walshie you wont need anything other than a few tins of luncheon meat. I cut it up into small cubes[ about 4 mm]. you will catch any kind of fish thats in there on that. You may need strongish gear as a few of the pegs have lily beds in/ near to them. The carp love to make a dash for these when hooked.
  18. I will take you for a couple of practice sessions dave. Are we wanting to have it round about the same weekend as it is normally held on. 13th/14th or 20th/21st of august

    Mates!

I found out the real ones when i moved down to cornwall. The others were just your friend when you could do something for them or you had something they wanted. Ive whittled them down to two now, the rest are binned. One cheeky cnut who hadnt spoken for20 years phoned me when he found out i now lived in cornwall wanting to visit me. yeah, like f**k you are.
  20. Just make sure you sleep in the canvassy one with ropes attached and shit in the plastic one with a chimney youll be ok.
  21. Sorry to hear that ken. You would have bagged up on this venue mate. Hope all goes well for the mrs. Iam going to see the farmer who is half way up the hill dave. My next door neighbour is a drinking buddy of his so he is going to take me to see him.Hopefully he will have somewhere we can pitch up. We can probably use showers at harlyn sands campsite if anybody needs to. Only a couple of minutes drive. Or there is always the atlantic ocean if you prefer that. I had a boat trip in mind Ken they get some good tope, porbeagles and blues in august. Pity if you cant make it.
  22. As kev has said my main problem is going to be a campsite that will be suitable for what we want to do. There are loads of campsites in the area but they dont allow large parties of men and they have lights out times which are midnight at the latest. This is understandable as lots of families descend on cornwall and dont want to be kept awake until the early hours. I will try my best but it may have to be somewhere basic to give us the freedom we need to do what we want. To be fair i would rather be away from the campsites as they are rammed in august.
  23. The new size limit[42 cm] is supposedly to allow each female fish at least one breeding year. A 42cm fish weighs less than 2lb generally so would not be taken by the vast majority of anglers. Holidaymakers are the main culprits when it comes to undersize fish but thankfully most of them dont catch many
  24. I agree mate it is nice to see the bass get some protection but i cant see the point of us tossing them back for them to swim a hundred yards into a gill net. I practise catch and release most of the time anyway as do most people i know. irs not about wanting to take them all [unlike the commercial boys] but i do want to take one now and again if its a good one.
  25. Whats the point banning rod and line anglers from taking a fish home and still allowing every inshore gill netter to still take 1300 kg per month. what a load of bullshit. I think there may be one or two who just ignore the rules and just carry on. Its not like they are going to appoint hundreds of extra bailiffs to catch people is it.
