good luck with the season ahead hope you enjoy it. one of the most anoying things about pigeon racing is fecking hawks. they always seem to end up taking the best birds.

i think you are right there grunter it will take over your life if you want to be good at it. ive spent a few seasons on and off with fanciers as ive often thought about giving it ago myself. i consider myself a dedicated person with my running dogs but i just dont think i am dedicated enough to fly pigeons and do anygood. you need to eat sleep and breath pigeons to do well with them imo. perhaps when i slow down with the dogs i might try a few pigeons.

its summat i dont really do as i am a lamper and my dog aint built for catching bolters. having said that i do enjoy the odd time my dog pics up a bolting rabbit on the very few occasions i go ferreting.

Led 150 With 10 Am Batt V Led 150 With Batt In Handle

i was supprised lastnight with the filter on the 150 there was very little glare coming back of it. it was a good tight fit. I like the red filter on the 150 although they take some getting used to because you can't see much of the field with them, they still bring eyes up good enough for me. spot on. thats basically what i said on my earlier post. plenty good enough for spotting but no good for working the dog to. -

well done trev and the pup. been out myself tonight and found long slips were needed due to the time of year and the noise from walking these fecking wet fields. what didnt you like about the 150 tonight?

personally i think the lamp is shit with the red filter on. i tried it for a couple of fields tonight and thought it made a allready tight spot a little bit tighter and dulled the light a little to much for my liking which made me lose the rabbits easier in the beam. its a good dark night tonight and the range for spotting was ok but poor for keeping a clear eye on the rabbit when the dog was giving chase and turning a few times. having said that i dont like filters anyway. -

i cant see the filters being any good at all as the led is only 10 watt. i will put mine on later and give some feedback on it when i get home. -

i would have thought it would suit your local walks just fine mate. ive got one but run it from a 10 amp lithium and as dlloyd points out there is no difference in the beam or spot to the one with the battery handle. great little lamps i wouldnt have thought you will be disapointed. -
that price is abit steep mate. ive got 2 dogs here one is 11 and has never had any problems with his dew claws the other is just coming upto 5 and had to have his dew claws removed 2 seasons ago. i was quoted £220 to remove the front dew claws from my dog he had to have them off as it basically stopped him running. biggest part of the bill was to put him to sleep for the op. total cost when finished £160

at least thats a good bit of news mate.

intorduce the whippet to the ferrets around the home a few times before taking him out with them. if the terrier is fine with the ferrets and has done ferreting before take the terrier with you aswell, if the whippet as learnt to rat from the terrier theres a good chance it will follow the terriers lead when you go ferreting. be cautious and just keep a eye on the whippet though

they youse to do leather slip leads when i was a kid that had a brass loop on the collar you would put it round your dog and clip it back onto the lead. it looked like a normal lead and collar but you just pressed the brass attachment that the collar was conected to and the dog was quick released and running without a collar on. i think you might be able to pick them up still, Iv got one in the house i find the clip hits your leg all the time and realises the dog randomly !I work mine with collars nice to have something to hold on to when pulling dog away thats probably why i havent se

i never use a collar a dog ive herd plenty of stories of dogs pushing through hedges behind there quarry and apparently catching there collar and in some cases managing to kill there selves so i dont take the risk. if i am out with someone else and we are running 2 dogs i use abit of rope for a lead so the other person can hold my dog whilst i work theres from the slip when lamping. when its my dogs turn to run he is let off the rope and worked lose, no slip leads or collars for me.

with the forcast predicted to be 18-20mph winds and rain for night i give bird a quick phone call to see if he fancied a trip out with dogs and as usall he was up for it. with all the rain we have been having of late i couldnt make up my mind on what to do, should i go on hilly ground with the hope that all the wet has pushed the rabbits up on the hill side or just head out on the lower ground and see what it was like. i decided to head for some flat winter wheat fields that i knew held one or two rabbits. although the wind was in our favor with good cloud cover the rabbits were ext
