  1. i cant see the filters being any good at all as the led is only 10 watt. i will put mine on later and give some feedback on it when i get home.
  2. i would have thought it would suit your local walks just fine mate. ive got one but run it from a 10 amp lithium and as dlloyd points out there is no difference in the beam or spot to the one with the battery handle. great little lamps i wouldnt have thought you will be disapointed.
  3. that price is abit steep mate. ive got 2 dogs here one is 11 and has never had any problems with his dew claws the other is just coming upto 5 and had to have his dew claws removed 2 seasons ago. i was quoted £220 to remove the front dew claws from my dog he had to have them off as it basically stopped him running. biggest part of the bill was to put him to sleep for the op. total cost when finished £160
  4. at least thats a good bit of news mate.
  5. sad news that mate. youve put alot of time effort and money into getting that pup/litter from what i can gather and had a shit reward for it. sorry to hear that news mate rip june i take it you havent got a pup from your litter now?
  6. those people are whats needed to keep improving on working dogs
  7. intorduce the whippet to the ferrets around the home a few times before taking him out with them. if the terrier is fine with the ferrets and has done ferreting before take the terrier with you aswell, if the whippet as learnt to rat from the terrier theres a good chance it will follow the terriers lead when you go ferreting. be cautious and just keep a eye on the whippet though
  8. they youse to do leather slip leads when i was a kid that had a brass loop on the collar you would put it round your dog and clip it back onto the lead. it looked like a normal lead and collar but you just pressed the brass attachment that the collar was conected to and the dog was quick released and running without a collar on. i think you might be able to pick them up still, Iv got one in the house i find the clip hits your leg all the time and realises the dog randomly !I work mine with collars nice to have something to hold on to when pulling dog away thats probably why i havent se
  9. i never use a collar a dog ive herd plenty of stories of dogs pushing through hedges behind there quarry and apparently catching there collar and in some cases managing to kill there selves so i dont take the risk. if i am out with someone else and we are running 2 dogs i use abit of rope for a lead so the other person can hold my dog whilst i work theres from the slip when lamping. when its my dogs turn to run he is let off the rope and worked lose, no slip leads or collars for me.

  11. i have a few pics of my pups as they start out in life as its nice to have a memory or two of them then. i do take pics of big bags, anything upto 30 i have had loads of times so theres no point in a pic theres only so many times you can be bothered to line rabbits up lol
  12. at 26tts hes almost as big has his dad he will be making a lump of a dog.
  13. with the forcast predicted to be 18-20mph winds and rain for night i give bird a quick phone call to see if he fancied a trip out with dogs and as usall he was up for it. with all the rain we have been having of late i couldnt make up my mind on what to do, should i go on hilly ground with the hope that all the wet has pushed the rabbits up on the hill side or just head out on the lower ground and see what it was like. i decided to head for some flat winter wheat fields that i knew held one or two rabbits. although the wind was in our favor with good cloud cover the rabbits were ext
  14. i enjoyed that vid Trev. that little whippet looks to be tuned into the ferreting job tidy.
  15. ive dropped mine a couple of times allready and the spot just remains the same because its a fixed spot with a led so there is no bulb in there to move about and feck your spot up.
  16. its down to personal preference there is good and bad in both sexes. i prefer a dog because they dont come into season so you can take them hunting anytime you wish to go. i also prefer dogs as i think they tend to be just that bit more thicker set and generally stronger built but again i like thick set lurchers. they dont seem to mature as quick but a good dog is a loyal as any bitch will be imo.
  17. kind offer that mate. we are all good thanks, atb to you and the family for the new year.
  18. i dont drink so me and the misses will be stopping in tonight. shes been on some bloody diet for the last couple of months which she cant drink on so that suits me just fine. i will be more than happy to stay in with her and the kids
  19. i got it from a local shop mate. i found a shop on google before hand called countryman of derby that are selling them for £45 i am sure there will be other places doing the same deal if you look mate. they are going for £55 notes on the deben website.
  20. its tracer's version of the plr500 they are exactly the same imo. mine isnt the cordless version as i dont feel they have been tried out in the field long enough for me to be trusting the life span of the battery over a season or two. £45 for the lamp with the cord on and a red filter comes with it aswell for that money. ive rewired it and run it off my 14 amp lithium. its only a 10 watt led and it is plenty bright enough for any lamping i do round here. i will drop you a pm later when the misses gets back from work and i wont have the kids then lol 10 amp lithium n one of them get 10

  23. with a combination of reading posts on here and seeing a couple of 150 sport lamps in the field i decided to buy myself one today. i got home with it and this afternoon i stripped down and rewired it to my spec as i do with all my new lamps. bird popped over tonight and we headed to our spot for a planned short walk just to see if the difference in beam colour had any effect on the dogs ability to work the lamp on the odd squatters that we may come across. the weather was against us a little bit as the rain stopped and the sky started clear, by the time we were back at the car it was brigh
