    Well,I stand corrected it seems you can use that calibre,but I would certainly not want to heart/lung shoot a Fallow or Red with one,so why not get a proper calibre or is that more suited to the job? Martin

    Yes legal to shoot fallow using 220 swift in ireland. Definitely not legal my friend,here is a copy of the applicable laws........... Northern Ireland For Muntjac and Chinese Water deer only- a rifle with a minimum calibre of not less than .220 inches and muzzle energy of not less than 1000 foot pounds and a bullet weight of not less than 50 grains may be used. For all deer of any species - a minimum calibre of .236 inches, a minimum bullet weight of 100 grains and minimum muzzle energy of 1,700 foot pounds is the legal requirement.

    Well,I go back a bit further than most of you on here,but I would like to think that I wasn't the only one that remembers 'Torchy' the battery boy. There weren't any cartoons as such on the TV and there was only 2 channels not a lot like todays 900 odd channels....lol Here is a link to my childhood,and I'm guessing Owens' ....aka The Stalker..........

    Hi Peter,if they give you an unrestricted cert from the off(which is unlikely)then you don't need to do anything,but if they restrict it which is far more likely then you would need to ask your FEO to check the land to see if it is safe. Now as stupid as this may seem as some of the FEO's don't even shoot,so what they know about it I'm fecked if I know,but that is the state of play as we speak. Martin
