  1. Can be a bit tight in some chambers but should be OK accuracy wise.
  2. Well done U. I have the squeak from a toy that I hold in my teeth and blow/suck. Drives my dogs mad. Not tried it on fox yet though.
  3. Well done. Shooting at night is bad enough without the mist. One time the image in the scope was getting worse and worse. I cleaned all the lenses including the Archer. I changed the batteries. Only then did I look up and found a sea of solid mist up to waist high.
  4. I did not build it myself, a guy on pigeon watch forum Dave G sells them. I believe he is on this forum too but under the name of "some bloke" try this link if you are interested http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/topic/364477-kwikfit-add-on-night-vision-rigs/?fromsearch=1 You're all right belly. I use a tubed Starlight Archer and wouldn't be without it. Those into diy n/v should check out custom rifle scopes. He's designing some awesome stuff at the moment. Really compact with all the bells and whistles.
  5. No way, diesel is too expensive. U ;-) You're like the male equivalent of a lady "who" lunches" U. How can you ban the reverse of tow? took the context right out of it.
  6. Aw! you're just showing off now U. Did you go home and change before taking that picture?
  7. They look nice sized rabbits Belly, well done. Did you build the N/V yourself?
  8. I read somewhere that the yanks like em so much they're limited to two per day in some places.
  9. Militaria, pistols and rifles. You listening "U"? https://www.bidspotter.co.uk/en-gb/auction-catalogues/william-george-auctions/catalogue-id-wi410968
  10. Talking about your porch reminded me of a story Dai! A blond female student was looking for some holiday money and answered an ad for someone to do some painting. She knocked on the door and a guy said I'm a bit busy right now so I'll have to leave you to it. The porch at the back of the house wants a lick of paint. He gave her the paint and the brushes and left her to it. After a couple of hours she knocked the door again and told the guy she was all finished. Well done says he and paid her. As she was walking away she said.... By the way, that's not a porch.... it's a Ferrari
  11. My farmer rears pheasant for rough shooting. He's asked me to shoot any foxes I see and have taken a couple with the Annie 22lr when they've put in an appearance. Now I've got me a 17 Hornet I'll be doing the job properly. Can't believe how accurate the thing is. Starting to look at callers and I do like the look of those mojo critter things.
  12. Well done U. I liked the other vid better. It wouldn't be a bad idea to put some subtitles up because the voice is so quiet. For me a rifle is just a tool so although I admire and respect your passion for the old stuff I still think you're crackers.
  13. I started with the 22 rimfire on Monday with my archer night vision when it got dark. But where i was parked in the field i could see rabbits spread over the field and so on Tue,Wed and Thursday i used the 17hmr just for a bit more range. All i was doing was thinning them out.If i could not get a more or less certain headshot i was going for a upper chest shot as i was taking them home.I prefer not to gut shoot them as too much of a mess when gutting them. Well done stoggy. What scope is the Archer used with? Just got a 17 Hornet and looking for a scope for it. At the moment my Anschutz

  15. Good choice I bought my .17 hornet as a hmr replacement, best thing i ever did. I don't know what the hardy mods are like though as i use a DM80 on mine. Thanks Ian. I was granted a hmr and a 223 as well for the bunnies and the fox but I'm hoping the 17 hornet will do both. Just had a mad two days trying to get the reloading bits together so I can take it out tomorrow. Couldn't get 20gr vmax bullet heads anywhere. My mate 2 miles away said "I've got some of them". Then I found that the CZ mounts aren't normal either and none of my stash would fit so today I've had a round trip the
  16. Not yet milord. Having a serious struggle trying to make up my mind. I like a big rabbit head to aim at so looking at X18/20/24. Dont want AO, don't want IR. Don't think I'll need tactical turrets. Why do people buy 42/44mm objectives when they can have 50/56mm? Apart from raising the eyeline, Is it easier to center the eye when using a smaller objective lens? And of course it has to work well with the Archer. A smaller scope balances the rifle better and looks better as it gives a sleeker silhouette. If you are shooting with good light then the larger objective can
  17. I've got an earier one of those Dave. A Yukon Patrol I think it is. Bit too focus fussy for me. I've got one of these on trial; http://www.customriflescopes.com/shop.html#!/Infrared-IR-Night-Vision-Monocular-Scope-6X50-Zoom-350m-range-+-Records/p/73245072/category=15737046 But none of em can hold a candle to an Archer as a spotter IMO. It's just a faff taking it on/off the rifle but when I'm on the sticks it's easy to just leave it on the rifle to scan and pivot.

  19. Well done. We'll be able to compare notes.
  20. I'm inclined to agree. wasn't looking for speed just a hot load with the 2ogr and a quiet load with the 17gr but I think it's hassle I can do without.
  21. I meant the spotter on the bonnet Dave. Very similar to my Archer. Wish I could afford another Archer as a spotter.
  22. Bit the bullet and will have in my hand later today, a brand new CZ 527 Varmint in 17 Hornet flavour and a s/h Hardy Gen 3 moderator. Can't wait.
  23. Well done. Can't beat a rat shoot.
  24. Got data for the 20gr Mike including CFE BLK, H4198, IMR 4227, H110, Win 296, and Lilgun, which I know my rfd stocks. He doesn't do Accurate. Have been on the saubier site. Been on loads of em but can't find data for the 17HH in 17gr. If you've seen any let me know where. What's vis 120? If that's Vihtivuori, Their data starts at 20gr and I don't think my rfd stocks it.
