i allways prefer a set cross or a strain, so you can see roughly what your going to get breeding is key for me, best to best but thats not to say you carnt or wont get good dogs out of bitsa dogs my mates got one out of unkown breeding a cracking dog wish i had it have no clue how its bred but if i was paying with my money it would be out of known breeding

i would think twice on breeding a maiden bitch too late, i bred my cattle dog x at 7 or so and she didnt realy look after the pups that well, it could of just been my old bitch, but ive not had it before she didnt seem to care for her pups as if there was no maternal instinct there

hi a pic of my bull x out today ferreting, also can i ask why you have decided a bull x over the other lurcher breeds thanks some nice pics
-
i have to say giving your dog a hiding is wrong and wont acheive anything, but i will agree with wilf and thats unlikly lol, i know a good bull will turn on you and give it to you if you upset them too much, the way i see it is some dogs wont start it but when they go can finnish it, i have heard of loads of bull x in this instance and allways get the bad press, i hope it doesnt become a common topic or youll have the same happen to what happend to the pits and i know a convicted dog fighter from the 70/80s who said it was mainly bad owners that brought it on top for that breed, his statement n

ive got a leggy lakey/russel the little bugger can run too i bet it would be ideal for this cross its a fair hunter and loads of stamina as terriers do long coated be ideal for the job
-
i dont know whats happend to the dog maybe i dont want to, but i would of put it away in its kennel for a day or two let yourself calm down and reflect, then make a decision, the bullx can be a handfull and people should be aware of this, either way i would have waited especially as you said the russel was the instigater, you must of frightend the dog for it to run off from you

WHEN YOUR DOGS RUNNING DAYS ARE OVER
2.8 guy replied to robert michem's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
here is my old bitch fran, sadly gone now worked her all the way through her life, she was a fantastic jumper but as she got older she got heavier due to not going out as often, aged about 10 in pic, and in her head could still jump the sheep net with the 2 strands above, but got caught up snaped her tendon,i weighd up my options and thought even thoe its the end of catching days still wanted her around a great gard dog, and loyal friend, i owed her, she had brought me hundreds of hours of happiness and at the age of up to 8 was still catching like a young dog, infact put some of my mates to s -
hi rabbit whats the pelt for, if its for a dummy i cut mine into a rectangle fold it over fur inside then stitch it up so you got like a tube, leave one end undone, then fold it back the other way round fur on out side, slide a paint roller sleve in the middle stitch up , gives a soft feel but hardish inside you can then make it heavier by adding weight in the middle,if you want to
