Nigel Farage UKIP......next Prime Minister.....we can only hope!

Well if he's that bad he should be easy enough to take money off next season.....think I'll start walking my "pocket rocket" in July and match him in september, lol.

Yes I've known Alan since the mid 80's and I can say he has my utmost respect as a dog man and as a conditioner.

When I was a schoolboy in the 60's I ferreted for an older whippeteer who used to walk a dozen whippets, a pointer bitch and Peppy, his wifes miniature poodle, from his house along the river embankment past my house, all free off lead. Very impressive! One day his best whippet bitch Goldie, broke ranks and chased a cat across the road and was killed under a car. My dogs are always on a lead until afield!

Aye but was it an aul owl or a young owl?
-
Not Craig nor Alan S though.....they competed with the best in the land in full public view and neither bummed up their dogs.....that was done by others who appreciated what they were seeing at the time!

Well as for Craig....his Foxy bitch ran 63(?) matches and never lost! Foxy's brother Nipper sired Blondy (out of Dancer), who won the millenium Forley cup with 6 from 6. He also sired Barney who sired Ozzie who sired Bulldozer. Other dogs of Craigs breeding include Buddy, Kizzy, Snowy etc.....see what I mean?

Did English Fly Ever Win The Forley Ledends
BOLIO1 replied to the quare fella's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Sad episode that lads....I had just given big Kelvin R.I.P., one of the litter I bred out of Turk and Sniper ( Sam ) when I heard he had tipped his landy in a pond and drowned. That was the day I first saw Tommy's Smokey run and rang Alan to suggest him as a possible mate for Dancer. The subsequent litter produced Max...sire to my Willow bitch...and Roberto's Kim...I think? Martin s Fly was a sister to Innie and Glider.....so was bred from Lady to the pure saluki Sonny. -
Gorger I don't even know of any Irish man who had the confidence to match against the top English dogs never mind draw.......well not since Master McGrath.....when greyhounds were still bred to course rather than sprint from A to B. I tip my hat to you John. why tll lies you hunted ardee in the 70 n 80s you were running on slemish easy hares coming on here letting on your an ould han ffs your GANG were freaking when you crossed the border wonder why. Very hard to interpret this post. "your gang"?......for over twenty years Templeking and I hunted mostly alone except when we met O

have you got a lurcher now since you left mayo street.stick with your memories mate. I left Mayo street primary school in 1960.....so all my experience with dogs, English fenland, Irish field and Scottish mountain has come since then. In fact I've been lucky enough to have had a "best dog of the day" on Rippengale fen and on Scottish mountain within the past decade.....how about you pal?

There's no shame in any dog missing a hare......but to crab a dog for missing and then crab a hare for being killed quickly sounds more like sour grapes than an honest appraisal of the situation. Like I said, well done Bulldozer and well done Lucas. If only some people had the honesty of these great dogs......!
-
How are men with properly tested dogs ruining anything for "ordinary lurcher men"? If you don't want to use these studs you don't have to....it's not compulsory! I personally have not the slightest interest in shooting but I don't lurk around the shooting section stalking those who do. If I hadn't any experience of running on fenland I would never have the brass neck to criticise those who have. To slag off Lucas is to slag off the men who have seen him run and deemed him worthy. Men like Noony are no fools, have ran on the fens for years and know what kind of dog they need. I haven't seen L

Well done Bulldozer and well done Gorger and Lucas I know how hard it can be over there!!

For Gnasher......here's one I've had on vhs for years and just found online. Chet Atkins had been my favourite guitarist since I was a kid in the 60's and it was he who inspired Tommy and later awarded him the C.G.P. accolade. Sadly passed away ten or twelve years ago. This man played session on recordings of Hank Williams and Elvis before becoming the most recorded instrumentalist in any genre of music! https://www.youtube.com/watch?NR=1&v=Sd6hWz19cIs&feature=endscreen

40 pound lol its 100 euro a hare down here. It was in the early 90's the last time I was offered a price right enough......inflation eh?

Well after a week of high winds and rain, saturday dawned frosty but bright and calm. It was Caolan's first time ferreting and once I explained to him how it was every apprentices job to lug the heavy gear he took to it like a duck to water During a pleasant few hours he caught a few.....missed a few more.....and proved himself totally at ease handling the ferrets. Hopefully the first of many trips afield.
-
And yet they still (greyhound men), ask you to get them hares for their dogs. So f**k them as I've always said. If they cant catch a hare on its own ground the way lurchermen do then f**k them riight off. Offering £40 quid a time on the one hand while condemning lurchers and natural hunting on the other, is a pure excercise in obfuscation.

I guess we opt for what we find works best for each of us......not a thing wrong with that.

I think the plainheads might be Fifes. Borders have a similar profile but are much bigger. Irish fancy are similar to Fifes but slightly smaller and more natural....they make great feeders and rearers. And there's a coloured in there too.....

Hood covers the head ok but the mutes can end up anywhere. With a poly box the motor is protected from the hawk and the hawk is protected from everything.
