  1. Aye look up the pie thread, there's one guy on it who says the dog wouldn't be able to catch anything because it's only got a stump for a tail, he reckons it wouldn't be able to turn as the tail acts as a rudder. I've had greyhounds with half a tail and also seen others and it hasn't affected their performance.
  2. Couldn't be impressed by that mate it was the middle of the summer. They seemed chuffed to bits though with 3 summer hares. Typical BBC, when they were heading off to go coursing the narrator said "hunting with dogs is banned in Scotland". Have been saying for ages now as have others that the BBC are anti fieldsports and they never miss an opertunity to knock it.
  3. Yeah it gets them used to the scent at a young age.
  4. Can you be more specific about the injury?
  5. He's only 7 months, it sounds like he's just getting over excited, forget about live rabbits for a few months and spend some time on his recall and retrieving training. Work your way up from a rabbit skin dummy to a whole [cold] rabbit, then when you're happy with his performance try him on a newly killed [warm] rabbit.

Greyhound data will only have the earmarks of the dog if someone has registered them on that forum. Your best bet would be to give the Greyhound Stud Book a ring, here's a link below. http://www.greyhoundstudbook.co.uk/ Although if the dog has earmarks in both ears I'm pretty certain it'll have been registered by the ICC [irish coursing club]. The link below has some usefull contact numbers. http://www.greyhoundrescue.co.uk/_identifying_your_greyhound.html
  7. After reading your post I think the dogs telling you in it's own way it's not ready yet. Some dogs start younger than others, it's up to the owner to work out when they're ready. The pups only 7 months old so still has plenty of growing to do, both physically and mentally, let it be a pup for the time being. Keep at it with his training and try the rabbit skin from time to time i'm sure he'll come round and retrieve it eventually. You could always take him for a walk over ground that holds rabbits, at this time of the year he's bound to see plenty of young ones above ground it might get h
  8. How many was there in that litter? As we know litters can vary in size, can't see a small litter getting through 2 rabbits a day so I'd imagine that was a fair sized litter? Not sure, but i think maybe more than one communaly raised litter I was thinking 2 rabbits a day was a lot for a handfull of kits.

  10. Aye the schools are out mate, but let's be honest some of these posts are written by folk that left school a long time ago.
  11. Strange as it may sound I've always found the opposite [eating less in summer]. I would've thought they'd have needed more during the winter when it's colder and they're working but it's not the case with mine. Can only put it down to the fact that with more daylight they become a lot more active whereas in the winter they seem to spend all their time sleeping. if there working all day every day they will need a fair amount of food to keep going as there busy burning up the fat .. but even if there not worked every day they still need more food as just keeping warm burns up energy &a

  13. Can't remember the most I've had out of one warren but I can remember when I first got ferrets and on one of my first trips out I did a 10 holer round a hawthorn tree, stuck the young hob down and it took him nearly an hour but he bolted 11 rabbits from that bury. I thought, feck this is easy.
  14. Alan Hutton looks a good player....but with every respect none of those are exactly what you would call household names are they.....for 2 clubs of such magnitude you would certainly expect them to produce some big name players.....not sure who the biggest name over the last 10 years would be Gnasher who said they were household names? I was replying to a post where someone said Rangers or Celtic would rather buy than produce home grown players. Most of the above are 20 year old so I wouldn't expect them to be household names.
  15. I,ll do the maths on that when you do the maths on the question you set which was name 1 club that could generate a 100,000 attendance.....Arsenal get 60,000 regular, have a 40,000 waiting list for season tickets, and games are sold out 3 weeks in advance meaning more tickets could obviously be sold per match......? I dont know the figures for Man Utd but id imagine they are similar if not higher. i agree gnasher with the arsenal thing, fair point but a few yrs ago celtic had 60,000+ season book holders and a 40,000 waiting list too,but that was a few yrs ago, when we had decent players on

  19. Ah, now I know why you've got the blues, your reading too many of burny2011's posts. How long do you think he'll last on here.
  20. or pink Aye let's all be silly, I'll say tartan. Who's up next? Must be plenty of colours left.
  21. I'm sure you can get medication for that mate.
  22. Colour doesn't make any difference to working ability, but that said my best three ferrets over the last 25+ years would all have been albinos. I've had some good poleys but some of the albinos have been top class.
  23. Saluki/grey/whip/grey x collie/grey/bed/whip, 22" @ 5.5 months and 24" fully grown 3/8th collie x 5/8th grey, 21.5" @ 5.5 month and 25" fully grown. Collie/whip/grey, 21.5" @ 5.5 month and 24" fully grown. Bed/grey x grey/bull/collie/whip, 23" @ 5.5 month and 25" fully grown. Collie/grey, 21" @ 5.5 month and 24" fully grown.
  24. Seen it happen a few times, don't think it's a lack of strength more a lack of technique. One of the lads I used to ferret with had bother necking rabbits, quite often he'd pass them over to me to do them after he'd tried and failed, he was 6ft tall, 14 stone and a butcher to trade but he just didn't have the knack of necking them.
