  1. Don't know if the price was ok or not mate as I haven't got a clue how long your net is.
  2. If your wanting offers a bit more info would be handy, eg make model etc.
  3. Aye just the one drop mate, to be honest we were well short of netting, could've done with another 100 yards. Hopefully I'll have another 100 yarder on the poles and in the basket by the end of the week.
  4. With the wind blowing a hooley it was time to dust the cobwebs off the long net, it's been a while since it was out. My son Dylan and I took it up the school playing fields this afternoon and stretched it out making sure everything was in good order, which it was. We set off at 9pm and by 9.30 the net was set, we only had 100 yards which I knew was leaving us well short but thought it would be worthwhile non the less and with this being Dylan's first time out with the webs it would be an experience for him. I left Dylan at the net after telling him what was required and set off up the
  5. That's the Bridge Pool at Thornhill f mac, the Nith's been poor this year for both sea trout and salmon, a lot of anglers are complaining about the lack of fish.
  6. The plan was that my eldest son Dylan and I were going to do a bit of ferreting this morning. That changed when I got a call early this morning asking if my middle son Declan was available to play for his team but at an older age group because they'd had a few call offs, Declan never turns down the chance to play football so the plans were changed. We dropped Dylan off on the way to the game and left him to crack on by himself, he had with him 3 related jills, grandmother, mother and daughter. By the time we got back he'd done okay and had 6 in the bag which turned into 7 soon after we joi
  7. My youngest son Brodie got his first salmon tonight a wee grilse of about 3.5lb, as you can imagine he was buzzing.
  8. A few different opinions in the thread below mate. http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/topic/199197-mag-boxes/page__hl__portamag
  9. Hope you get sorted with something Shaun.
  10. A great read and pics as usuall TOMO, well done all of you.
  11. You could try contacting Shawfield stadium in Glasgow and asking for a list of the trainers that supply runners at the track then phone the trainers asking if they could help. http://www.shawfieldgreyhounds.com/Web_pages/FAQ.htm
  12. Malt has answered your first question, you don't have to skin them before you freeze them. As for the second question, there's no set answer to this one as individual ferrets will have differing needs as per the amount of feed they require which can be down to what size and how active they are as in how much work they get so it will be a case of trial and error for you, if they are getting porky feed less and obviously if they are looking thin up their feed.
  13. Your opinion is hearsay and means nothing Leeview's opinion is based on practical experience unlike your's, it's maybe time you realised you haven't had the hands on experience that some have. Time to give it a rest me thinks.
  14. That reply wasn't aimed at you, but anyway. You believe that bringing a jill out of oestrus fucks with her head? How exactly does ending her oestrus cycle do that, after all it's exactly what would happen in the wild?! Working on your warped logic, vaccinations must also f**k with heads, after all the vaccine is tricking the immune system into producing antibodies. It wasn't me who suggested jill jabbing a lactating mother, so unlucky there. Also look back over the thread, where did I say jills must be brought out of season using a jill jab?...no where. You however think it is better to deny
  15. I can only assume that you're writing not from personal experience but from what you've read on the internet The giveaway line is "does inevitiably kill them", I know of many instances of jills living to the ripe old age of 12 or 13 that have never been taken out of season so the question for you has to be, how did they manage that if it does inevitably kill them?
  16. After reading the two replies above I'm now wondering if the bubble you refer to is infact the jills vulva swelled up because she's in heat or is there a bubble right by her "twat"? Can you confirm which it is.
  17. I think you've answered your own question mate when you wrote that you looked after your old man's ferrets and that was your apprenticeship. So in a way you were brought up with ferrets and your dad was there to answer any questions you asked so even if we had the internet way back then you wouldn't have needed to flood it with questions about feeding, breeding, housing etc. Some don't have the luxury of having a parent, uncle etc as a tutor infact some might not directly know anyone that owns or works ferrets, should that stop them from getting into the game? Definately not, if they are
  18. Bread and milk sops is a thing of the past and should stay there.
  19. Anymore info or pics of this fish?
  20. Thanks for getting back to me ingram,it's not what I thought it was so I'll pass on it.
  21. What make and model is it mate? Likewise what size is the scope?
  22. The name Mike Ball means nothing to me mate, do you want to elaborate.
  23. Micro ferret. Looks like 2" galvanized mesh to me.
  24. I believe your right mate but they should've been named Whippet ferrets if it was because of the roached back.Never had a roached backed Greyhound and I trained plenty over the years. No doubt there will be some out there but I've never came across one. A greyhound should be ,-“ headed like a snake and necked like a drake, backed like a beam, sided like a bream, footed like a cat and tailed like a rat”.
  25. I'd hazard a guess that Rake Aboot has been getting fed up reading about them.
