  1. I have used them both and personally think the 3M model is spot on. Don't need to mess around with a dial just watch the lights or listen to the sound and hits the spot every time. Like others have said, somethimes digging down on top of the rabbit can shift them off a little just part of digging i guess. Keep at it
  2. Got home from work last night and couldn't get settled in the house so decided to have a quick shine with the dog. Not the best of conditions no wind and the moon was up with little cloud cover, but i went out anyway. Had a rough idea of where i was heading and thought i might see a few rabbits. Got to the first field and put the lamp on to see every rabbit heading for cover lol. Carried on and did a few fields and managed to get the odd one sitting tight in the field. slipped the dog when i got near and it was great to see him giving chase. Managed 3 slips in total the whole night but

  5. What happened like? had a vet bill for £2500 thought we were covered up to £3000!! turns out that was the max per year!! will be lucky to get £400 back!! always read the small print!! Surely if you have not claimed before in that year you should still be covered? Then if something happens again you are left with only £500 to cover you?
  6. Hi all just wondered if anybody has insurance for their working dogs. If so what type of insurance, where from and how much? My dog recently needed stitches and ended up being £190 vet bill, so i was thinking of getting some sort of insurance in case anything should happen to him when out working
  7. If they are bashed up inside its a bit of free ferret food. I personally find with my dog that rabbits in the net he just holds and doesnt damage them. How ever if caught on the lamp or ones that have slipped they sometimes are a bit bashed but thats when having ferrets come in handy as they are not fussed what they eat lol Can understand why some dont like dogs in the net but so long as they release and dont bash the rabbits insides up then doesnt really matter
  8. If you look at the third photo the pup has held the Rabbit, and on the leave command when I have hold of it, he lets go, two of the rabbits that day had actually bounced out the net, and would have went down a bury, probably meaning a dig. but he held them till I got there, I grabbed them, and on leave did so. He does the same with purse nets he will hold the rabbit in the net till I get there. I suppose some don't like the dog grabbing in the nets, but each to there own, I do. I would agree with you. Have my whippet when ferreting and it does not bother me in the slightest that he gr
  9. cheers lad will go collect it later today
  10. I had the same problem a while back with my whippet pup. Hes been attacked twice by the same two dogs now and another time by an Alsatian and the first ended with a trip to the vets and a £190 bill. The second time i was raging at the owner, as the first attack was his daughter walking the dog. He came out with they have never done that before, i laughed in his face and asked why i ended up with a £190 vet bill? He didnt know what to say and walked off. Keeps them on the lead now but my dog has never been the same since. Very jumpy around other dogs and if he sees the dogs that attacke

  21. Yea not even had a good look around yet, literally got to the end of one field and the dog marked the sets. The land owner said its full of rabbits and the sets don't seem to be all that deep and easy digging.
  22. Well finally had a look up on some new permission I got. After a drive around for 30 mins finally found the farm lol. Decided to have a look around and stumbled across 3 sets at the end of the first field. Dog gave a good mark and we decided to net them all up. Put the ferrets down and it wasn't long before they were bolting and thumping the ground. 3 slipped the nets and the dog nicked every one so I was pleased with that. Not a bad start and that was the first field. Will be heading back and have a good look around the place. Quick dig 17 rabbits in total
  23. £8 eBay mine arrived today Had the same problem with making one lol
