  1. Try using a treat or something like that?? My dog can be the same now at times, a little too head strong. Hard not to get mad at them but then if you do I wouldn't want to come back when somebody is shouting at me haha. Keep at it

  11. Been out again tonight just to get out the house. Did a couple of fields managed 2 slips and he caught one A little bugger again to retrieve it I walked away and left him. He kept following me and eventually he came and dropped it. Keep doing what am doing and he might get better??
  12. He's about 18 month now. Did a little bit with him last year but this is his first season. Coming on ferreting but thought I would give him a go on the lamp. Pleased with his first catch on the lamp hopefully more to come. Never thought of taking him out with another dog, might see if I can get out with somebody
  13. After a few runs with the whippet he finally had his first catch on the lamp. Not the best conditions with it been a full moon but I just fancied a look out with him. He's still not 100% sure on where to look but he's off the mark. A decent run for him across the field. Few turns and a decent start for the rabbit but he got it. Was chuffed to bits to see him finally catch one on the lamp. Knocked the lamp off and waited for him to come back. Brought the rabbit back so far but started messing about with it. I sat and didn't loose my rag with him but still standing with it. In the end
  14. Give him a PM mate just in case he doesn't check the thread
  15. Have to agree, i waited until mine was 6months+ before i had him out. Took him on plenty of walks and if he showed interest then i let him get on with it. As a pup i just spent a load of time with him and did retrieval work and getting him to know commands, but each to their own and i guess every dog is different
  16. Nice few posts on this thread. I have a whippet just over a year old. This is his first season for me and he is still a bit daft at times. I had arround the ferrets since i got him and hes not that fussed by them. Of course when he was first introduced to them he did try and play with them but after telling him to leave them, hes spot on with them. I did a little work with him when he was about 6/7 months but nothing serious. I just walked him around sets and in fields where i knew there were rabbits. eventually he showed interest and would give chase and mark sets. Spent a bit of time tea
  17. Actually howling at some of these replies lmao

  19. Always a nice read with a good ending. Lesson learnt with the collar but at least you got it back and didn't leave it like some people would
