  3. Yea I couldn't believe it lol. We knew it had been published in the shooting times around the time he won, but to find a book with it in was even better. I will keep trying and hopefully somebody will come good
  4. Yea mate I will do, should be here in the next few days :-) I will keep trying with him am sure he will come good like a few people have said to me, he's still learning and needs a bit more experience. To be honest even if he was no good I would never get rid of him, he's my first dog :-)

  7. Hi all just thought I would see if anybody else on here has any pictures of this event. After reading The Lurcher Training And Hunting by Frank Sheardown I discovered that my dad was pictured on page 11. After showing him he told me he was the first person to win this Event. From what I can gather it was the last qualifying round at wolsingham show and he entered. He won the qualifier which put him in the final which was held that day. All the other winners from previous shows and my dad were then judged on that day and he won :-) I think the year was 1989/1990
  8. Yea it's a good picture but was wanting it in colour as a surprise
  9. Hi all just after some help/advice. I purchased a book the other week The Lurcher : Training and Hunting by Frank Sheardown. To my amazement i turned to page 11 and found this picture of my dad with our old dog that won Cock Of The North. is there anyway i can get this turned into colour?
  10. Hi all just a few pictures from the other day with me and the whippet. This is his first season and I was really pleased with him. Not had many rabbits with him yet but he is starting to get the hang of it now. Started to mark sets up and is as good as gold with the ferrets. Love watching him when the ferrets are down he knows exactly what's going on. Only down side I am having is one slipped the net and he have chase. Managed to catch it but what a bugger to get the rabbit back. Done work with him with dummy's and toys and he brings them back every time and gets a treat. Not when he
  11. Hi all found my dads old locator and collar the other day in his shed. Tried the box, and the wheel clicks and turns on but the box just make a fuzzing noise. Just wondered if anybody knows who can repair them as it would be a nice surprise for him? Cheers
  12. Kennel is fine, wind proof but he doesn't like having a coat on, just wanted ideas to keep him warm. Personally I don't see the problem in the suggestions of heating the kennel, after all I wouldn't like to be sat out there on a night in this weather lol
  13. Are those heat lamps safe?? I can get a load of shredded paper from work never thought of that :-) Tried a coat on him last year but he's like Houdini managed to get out of it and chew it lmao
  14. My run & kennel are wooden didn't really think about that lol. I have thrown a couple of old duvets in there for now but was just thinking of ideas to keep him warm. Something safe and fairly cheap to run/use
  15. Hi Just after a bit of advice on my kennel/run. With the cold weather coming I am looking at some sort of heater or along them lines to keep the dog warm on a night. Anybody got any ideas on what I can use/do as I am not 100% sure. Cheers

  17. Hi all looking at fishing the specimen lake anybody fished it?? If so what works well and what the depths ect?
  18. In my opinion all dogs have hunting instincts so it doesnt matter if their parents are working dogs, the way the owner trains and brings them on is what makes the dog. The more you put in the more you get out so they say.
  19. Will give it a go and see what he is like I guess. No harm in trying and all that
