  1. Thanks Para, will it be obvious which male it was ie - will he feed her or anything? Ordered egg food in ready. they always have greens, will give the soaked seed a try. How long is the incubation for canary eggs?
  2. I'm not deliberately breeding them, they are not in cages or anything, all cocks and hens together in an aviary. I am just trying to give them the best chance i can if they choose to breed. I wont matter if they do or not. I don't have any dummy eggs so the chicks will have to take their chances on hatching. Will the hens eggs be all fertilised by the same cock bird or will she mate with various ones?
  3. Woooo woooo, got my first 2 canary eggs Questions.... Ive got 4 hens, 4 nesting pans, the two eggs are in the same pan, and i have seen the same hen in there daily, although she does not stay in. Will she lay a certain amount before deciding to sit tight? Will other hens lay in the same nest. Will she try to sit on too many eggs and if so how many should i leave her with.
  4. I agree Cupid, people think Mag boxes are a 'miracle cure' for everything

Seriously though, severe constipation can actually kill you, toxins reabsorb back into the body. If all else fails, manual evacuation is the only solution.
  8. Had the same with a lurcher, a big lad, would run at a dog (only ever big dogs though) would not even check to see if it were a dog or bitch, young or old would just suddenly REALLY lay into it, seen him drag another lurcher his size across a gravel path on its side. He was a perfect dog till he reached maturity around the 2yr mark, prior had never bothered other dogs, never been in a fight, just wanted to walk by my side. I even took him to the vets, got the drug which replicated the effects of castration, did no good, contemplated putting him to sleep.....his aggression had escalated to at
  9. Fieldsman. My box cost me £50, about the same as a night on the tiles for most folk. So the price of the box has nothing at all to do with my opinion. I am neither a fool or a liar, and am usually sceptical regarding 'new things' and like you if i thought they did not work i would also argue against them...BUT my arguments would be on information from actually using one, not reading about it. My findings were, the Mag box certainly did aid recovery, from skin tears/bites to muscular problems. They are not a miracle cure for all and sundry, will do no more for an injured dog than proper (a
  10. As I said it was a study .It was conducted by a professor of medicine on behalf of the government to see if people were being ripped off not his exact words but you get the jist. Not just someone spouting on the web the results were conclusive it made no difference hence the ban on advertising in America this is FACT .I read the case study I,m sure if you look hard enough you will find it also .I presume you bought one.The only facts that came from the study were if at the same time as being in one of the boxes and given calcium supplements it appeared that breaks mended marginally quicker but
  11. This is Spunky (322 grammes), sire of Tisk and the 9wk pullet (Now named Tally) This boy is something special, has everything you want in a Serama cock, pose, tiny size and a great shape. He came from one of the best breeders in the country, and i was very lucky to have him gifted to me after his owner produced equally superb offspring from him. This boy 'Sugs' (327 grammes) is from excellent breeding, same as above, and is shaping up to be a stunning lad. He was gifted to me as as youngster as he has a wattle crease. Breeding carefully to see if it is just one of those things
  12. Just because someone writes something on the WWW don't make it real
  13. My first home bred chicks of good quality, knowing how much they alter and tighten as they get older i am really excited about how good their shapes are already and can see great potential. This is 'Tip' son of Skip (placed 3rd in his class at this years Scottish National poultry show). Much tighter already than his dad was at this age and has attitude to die for, struts his tuff as soon as you look at him, not phased by anything at all. He is 20wks, weighs 404 grammes. His full sister 'Tick', she does look much better in the flesh than on the photo, i'll have to work at her pose a
  14. Lost more ewes and lambs this year than ever before. The severe winter meant having to feed, which has led to fat ewe's and big lambs, a bad combination. The knacker man told us all the farms are in the same way local, ewes dropping like flies. Heart breaking for the ewes with rotten lambs. They are in labour a very long time and just cannot pass them. And to make matters worse there are a load of Hogs in lamb this year, completely wild, forget they have even given birth Look forward to this time of year though, very little sleep for weeks but worth it when the lambs arrived fit and wel
  15. Once you are sure a wound is clean, don't keep cleaning it. Leave it alone and nature will do the rest. Cleaning will delay healing.
  16. Yep, it's illegal to walk a pig on public land

  18. Spoke to the postie again today, it is a Saluki. So there you go Saluki sound's Inuit
  19. No Tomo, not a husky type dog, it's just the name which sounds Eskimo not an Eskimo type of breed if you get my drift. Been thinking perhaps Saluki (dont know what he thinks an Eskimo word sounds like )
  20. sounds like an Eskimo word My postie told me about a litter of lurcher pups in the nearest village, he cant remember the types except it sounds like an Eskimo word Doing my head in trying to think?
  21. Poultry theft is huge all over the country now....and getting bigger. Allotments are a favourite here, where my sister has hers, they come and only steal the pure breed birds, even take their eggs. And leave everything closed up again when they are finished. So it sounds like people with a knowledge and dare i say it...respect for poultry! Sadly they even took the eggs from under her broody duck, it only had 4/5 days to go, all that sitting for those eggs to perish I never let people come here for birds now, always go to meet them elsewhere. Sad you cannot share you hobby with others a
