  1. Was only pure luck Gnasher, the jug i used hold's just under 2 litres, and i was at the stage of... Sod it, it'll have to do
  2. Spot on, when you have been ratting for a while you get to see the difference in dogs. I've seen muts do a better job than 'hard' digging dogs. Really keen hard working terriers sickened after a few seasons of hard work ratting. It's all down to the individual dog not a breed....plus believe it or not even with ratting, a lot is also down to the training. I've never owned a Plummer terrier, nor am i a fan of the breed, but have ratted with them and just about most terrier, lurcher and mut types, and the Plummers have never let their owners down in any way.
  3. Thank you very much folks ....... even Malt Still all a foreign langue to me Have given 1 gramme to 1 & 3/4 litres. That should be fine. Thank you again.
  4. Before the moult you can usually tell (depending upon breed) by the combs. The cockerels will be redder and larger than the pullets... These chicks are younger than yours. Wish i hadn't gone to photo these for you, discovered i have a load of cock birds
  5. Had not realised just how beautiful the herons plumage was till these pics
  6. I need to give some antibiotics. The powder is mixed with water and the directions are... 5 gms to 2 gallons of water. I dont need 2 gallons of water so would like to know...What gramme would be needed per litre please?

  8. Forgot date Sunday 3rd July. Contact M Thompson 07786736495 for enquiry.
  9. Terriers. Lurchers. Cock of the North. Bull x. Hounds. Fantastic day last year
  10. Eat what you want to (within reason) but eat smaller portions. And remember most of the time we think we are hungry it is actually thirst. At the end of the day it is mind over matter, are you a WEAK person, are you SO PATHETIC you will let food win And do it now whilst you are still young before wrinkles and gravity take over (and they do VERY quickly ) cos then...what's the point
  11. Used to rat on a farm down that way
  12. I thought the first ones had died because of the storm but not now. First ones were 'under' an up turned nest, 2 dead, one of them partially eaten. The other 2 i tried to save by putting them with the other hen and chicks, but one died later that day and found the hen eating the other. Then the following morning (whatever happens, happens during the night or early morning) found the remaining hens chicks disturbed, one of them had vanished completely. One dead with marks on it's body. The third chick was still alive and the parents looked after it all day yesterday, Hen was sitting on it las
  13. You think right, tis a good life
  14. You sound like my long lost twin brother
  15. Ahh right, with you now, thank you. Interesting info, it seems to be a great deal of trial and error doesn't it.
  16. What do you mean please JR? I also run a Octagon 20 Advance with autoturn cradle, with auto pump, i don't get as good results as i do in the mini, although i need to experiment more with the humidity, that may be the key? Paid, you can probably get more chicks under them also. But if something works for you, then stick with it, i think Brinsea have made alterations to the newer ones, Brinsea are a fantastic company for listening to people and getting things sorted
  17. No Paid, have not used one, nor will i. They are not rated very highly amongst most poultry people, they cannot get to the temp required for a lot of breeds. I use these... http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=electric+hen&meta=#q=electric+hen&hl=en&prmd=ivns&source=univ&tbm=shop&tbo=u&sa=X&ei=NPTcTbn6K9OEhQe7ppmqDw&ved=0CDcQrQQ&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.&fp=2c1a18cee0ef4d7a&biw=1274&bih=890 Can get them in several different sizes
  18. Once they dont need heat, they will do for several weeks yet, some breeds need it for longer than others. Be better if you could just leave the broody with them, she has sat on them for 3wks after all, she will get rid of them when the time is right
  19. The brinsea mini advance enough. This superb little incubator just never fails. I've never had any early dis, and hatch rates are much better than any of the other bators i use. Serama are notoriously difficult to hatch and today I have 10 out of 12 eggs have either hatched or are just about too. The 2 late dis may be due to the recent problems of a drive in the country Plus 2 power cuts. Fantastic all round vision, easy to keep clean, and easy to use. I just put a teeny bit of water in at the start, a teeny bit in mid way when i candle then another teeny (And i mean teeny) bit of wat
  20. The dogs seemed to revel in the after storm calm.... My sis was staying for a few days with her dogs, and not having had any walks yesterday they were in high spirits today.
