    He is now dead. No mites. Fresh water every day. Plenty of varied food. He was alive ok this afternoon, although i did think it was 'fluffed up'. But put it down to it being so young and the damp weather. Had a check over post mortem and no obvious sign why. Good body weight, clean vent, clear beak?

    One of my young canary fledglings, is just standing, beak opening and shutting as if it is gasping for air...any ideas?

    You did not specify age, breeding, working ability. My point was not all lurchers, are in shelter because they are failed workers. And even if they are is a good pet home or a 'little bit of rabbiting' not better than pts?

    We have quite a few up here, this one was on the window sill of the North lodge cottage of the castle. It takes the nuts from the feeder. Totally unbothered, brilliant to see so close. However we have been notified the greys are coming, been seen quite near I cannot understand why there is not some sort of defence put in place when grey are entering a known red area

    Just found as a stray Rob, he was roughly 12mth old when i got him, had been in the shelter for about 2mths.

    Some people dont half spout some shite on here. Every lurcher in rescue is there because it is a jacker/shite/abandoned etc etc. Better off put to sleep...blahh blahh blahh. My 'rubbish' came from a shelter, no world beater, but a good honest dog and i have had years of fun with this lad... This lad had never even seen a rabbit before he came to live with me, never been worked. He is now retired, living with my sister, he gets to sleep on the bed every night, catches rabbit almost daily bushing

    They seem to be all to pot breeding wise here. Seen them mating in November 2yrs ago. Got 3/4 grown here this June. And last year found newly born in September. Even though we have had foul winters of late their numbers seem to have increase dramatically...wonder if the decline in the BOP here has had anything to do with it?

    Vets would know if it were mange, presume they did a skin scrape? There could be any number of reasons...what is the skin like underneath? Do not dip the dog in jeyes though you could make the problem worse. Have you tried giving the dog an antihistamine tablet, you can get them in chemist/supermarkets.
