Aye, it's Finn i'm talking about. Although to be honest, if I was after something around a half x, i'd us fujis Don, over a racier bitch, i'd go for the slightly more collie in it, for the general all round hunting ability and physique as well as certain mental attributes. . . . Might use Finn myself one day.....
  2. If you're feeding dry food he/she will drink more......

  5. This means a lot actually. I've been spending a lot of time with my new pup this past week, just concentrating on the bond. And all she wants to do is please me. Don't get me wrong she's a little shit - as all pups are. But she loves pleasing me and loves human contact. She will sit on my knee while I hold her a bone to chew on for hours. I think that this bond we are establishing can only be a good thing for the future the ability to please is respect and submissiveness in the canine world good point paul, we had a staff years ago, more like a pit of today. He was great wit
  6. Could see that wee dog being tons of fun.....looks like a bitch I had many years ago.... Gonna get me another small dog one day......not just yet.....but sometime down the line.....when the time's right......
  7. How true is that....... A medical impossibility even.... However, some of the most nonsense/bullshit/fantasy filled heads I know belong to older guys.... You can do something with an impatient youngster....you can do feck all with havering, bullshitting, fantasy spouting oldies....'cept shoot them.....burn 'em and chuck 'em in the coup.......
  8. Is it the litter I'm thinking off? Aye Ross it is the litter you're thinking of - f****n disgraceful mate. And the sire and dam had - at the time the pups were born - never done a days graft....and to make things worse were brother and sister.....
  9. Some days mate - it really feels like it.....
  10. I know a lad who is consistant with being impatient. And consistant with being heavy handed. And consistantly feed a bad diet. His dogs are shite lmfao. . maybe i should have worded that better. . if you do the opposite to that lad (consistantly you should get the opposite result. . . most good dogmen have a set routine. this is very important.. and i dont mean routinely forget to walk them. and beat them regurely Made me smile.....
  11. I hate getting older and find the whole prospect thoroughly depressing.....probably spend more time than I should thinking about it.... And that's not healthy.... It's quality now...not quantity....I'm only 48...not old but working outside for most of my working life has taken its toll.... Tell you what though I still get 'em out every day and hunt something in some shape or form....and that ain't gonna change...I get to 10 o'clock some nights and feel no more like going out than I do f****n the cat...but if I don't get it done I'll feel worse....and what's more I still enjoy it...still
  12. I know a lad who is consistant with being impatient. And consistant with being heavy handed. And consistantly feed a bad diet. His dogs are shite Behave yersel.........

I'll eat your half.....
  15. They look grand them mate......love pies/pastry.....feck it let's be honest here I just love foooooooood.....
  16. As easy as buying a dog 'ready to start'
  17. Spot on that - lots don't though....first hurdle and it's out the door....and onto the next....and the next....and the next....
  18. Mate, seriously it has everything to do with who has the dog and how it's reared, trained and entered.... You can give a proper dog man a mediocre bred pup and he'll make a decent freezer filler out of it....but on the other hand you can give a pup with the best breeding in the world to an asshole and he'll fecking ruin it.....seen it many times before....
  19. And for that statement to be the truth you'd have to have seen all that have been bred....assessed them and basically kept records.... Dunno where you guys are getting the 10% or 20%....that just can't be backed up with fact..... I honestly believe very few are given the chance to shine and develop.... You just need to look on here....time and again folk posting pics of "my bitch/dog for the season" only to see similar post from the same folk next season....or folk passing on saplings/adults.....
  20. i've never spent more than £30 on eaither a pair of trainers / shoe's / boots or wellies any more than that and id feel rapped last set of wellies were a set of dunlops for £11.99 bargain I don't have a problem with folk charging decent money for good quality well reared and well bred pups....my gripe is with the "oh shit my more then average run of the mill bitch is in season....£££££££....let's get her lined brigade....." and then wanting £300 a pop.....it's a joke.... And take it from me there's been loads around here in the past wee while....fkn depressing....
  21. For me it's patience.....never yet seen a dog ruined by giving it a bit of time, time to mature and develop the necessary physical and mental attributes to do the job, but I bet we've all seen dogs ruined when pups have been expected to do the job of an adult... Or patience when recovering from injury or illness....all too easy to rush them....and see yourself set back for months.... Or patience when training a youngster...and not being scared to take two steps back...when things don't quite go to plan... So, for me it's patience...the best dog men I have seen have had patience....
  22. Getting older and hating it....!!!!!!

  23. It always amazes me that folk will pay £200 + for boots/wellies/waterproofs but will baulk and piss and moan at the thought of paying similar for a dog... So, what price a pair of wellies for a working man..... I know of 2 or 3 litters in the past 12 months that were initially priced way over what they were worth...one or two sold...the rest were reduced in price and the remainder stuck around for weeks before being given away...in one instance, where there had been 13 in the litter, to a rescue home.... Totally disgraceful.....and borne out of greed....
