Light sussex cross silkie go broody at the drop of a hat this was in december. i found light sussex make good broody birds when she is ready she will sit tight and cluck and peck at you if you try to disturb her. As said move her to a quiet place and place some dummy eggs in the nest box if you want to encourage her. i enjoy hatching a few chicks out every now and again good luck.
  3. if you cant get really well rotted manure and use fresh manure horse and chicken manure it will scorch young plants as you probably know. You can buy pelleted chicken manure which is good and is slow release ive used it many times.

  14. By god your different ,most folk on here who also don't know much about them think there proper shite . I've known of 2 plummers to sit on a peg on shoot day retrieving shot game,quick dig during dinner(earths found during drives) then back to the peg in the afternoon ,won't get that out of a spaniel mate .. Darbo, they are a very versatile terrier capable of any task you want to train them for, there are lads using them for trailing deer,shooting,flushing,ferreting,hawking, even herding farm stock and their nose will find anything as good as any pointer,gun dog,etc, they are intelligent and love to please, the only drawback is finding decent working lines being bred when you are looking for one, most do not wait and buy the first thing they see advertised, there are working lines and pet lines and they are worlds apart in both temperament and working ability, many are constricted by their size, i
