  8. i have a bedlington which i use for ferreting. i had lurchers for over 20 years. the reason i have a bedlington is on my permission the farmer wont allow lurchers simple as that.the dog has a first class nose .a very good marking dog.very fast for a terrier.he suits my needs all my ferreting is done in strips of woodland.i dont have the luxury of ferreting on open fields dales etc.they would make good bushing dogs.one down side is the coat everything gets stuck in it brambles etc. although he is a intelligent dog he wasnt the easiest dog i have ever trained.with people he is great with other d

  13. i always use a collar but use as a last resort.people cannot help to keep checking with the locator and dig too early. if you think your ferret has killed down .check with locator and mark the spot. i use a orange tee. leave for a while then see if it is still in the same position. if you cant get it out with other methods then i dig. hopefullly this doesnt happpen too much in a season.if you have a few ferrets about you will seee they are all not the same. a had some great little bolters and 1 very fast jill who would kill all the time in smalll warrens so she was only used in big warrrens. t
  14. i have bedlington great marking dog can be headstrong to train.
  15. to hock a rabbit make a slit with your knife between the major bone [femur]of one hind leg and the tendon which lies directly behind it.to locate the correct position take hold of a hind leg to find the hock.you will see a long deppression of skin which a knife can easily make a slice. when you have put a slice in you can put the foot of the other hind leg through it.you can then put them on a stick etc if you wish to carry them this way . hard for me to explain if someone showed you it would take seconds all the best.
