  2. good books to get.just mentioned gundog training books because they go a bit more in depth on basic training/obedience especially retieving than most lurcher books. good luck.
  3. collie/grey, collie/whippet/grey ,beddie/whippet/grey ,,beddie/grey, beddie/whippet, whippet would all make good rabbit dogs from working lines and in the hands of a sensible owner. who would be prepared to put the time in training conditioning and entering the dog to rabbits.
  4. grew plenty of the above from cuttings. but cut them 9-12 inches but about 3 inches under the soil. had good success with the currants especially.

  9. get dvd purdeys progress by d. sleight. good books-the working lurcher by jackie drakesford. understanding theworking lurcher by jackie drakesford. for basic training of a pup get a good gundog training book.they go into more detail how to train a pup how to sit/stay/lie down /recall/ retrieve etc.a good gundog book will give you a good insight how to basic train a pup and young dog obedience wise.

  11. only had 2 hancock dogs got 1 in 1987 and 1 in 1989. myself and maybe others at that time thought that hancock worked his dogs. there was plenty of hype surounding these dogs in the eighties.

  13. got a 1/2 cross beardie/greyhound in 1989 had him for 17 years.decent rabbit dog day/night. caught hunted up daytime hares on occasion. good coat/feet/nose. good retriever/jumper. hard mouthed.laid back temperament easy to train.used only on rabbits/hares daytime/hunting up.bushing with terrier.lamping.a honest dog who tried didnt pick his runs.height 25inches to shoulder.just a bit of info on my beardie/grey. not owned 1/2 cross border grey.
  14. there are breeders of top rate laying pure bred birds. breeds- rhode island red. light sussex plymouth rock brown/white leghorns white wynandotte marans cream legbar. get a copy of practical poultry look at the practical poultry utility register.
  15. i set aside a area for a asparagus bed. bought 1 year old crowns. dont harvest 1st year. 2nd year you can start to harvest. it is a long term investment a asparagus bed can last for 20 years. produce each spring followed by fern like foliage which is cut down in autumn. i know its a long wait no crop 1st season but its well worth the wait in my opinion.

  17. without question a 3/4 grey 1/4 border collie was no problem at all.
  18. all my ferreting is done in or around woodland. my ferreting dog a beddie suffers with stings to his feet quite badly at times when we get home. i was adviced to give small dose of piriton.
  19. generally speaking what difference is there in temperament between the cattle dog and border collies?
  20. jack russell 1985. first lurcher 3/4 grey/1/4 collie 1987.
  21. agree last bitch was the best one for me. good on rabbits. plenty wind for big rabbits only a small bitch about 23 but a very determined bitch. day/night.
