Seen a few go over the years.my mate had 1 decent lamping dog could knock over a daytime hare.Never had any real problems regarding injury.He was put to another whippet/grey and a bitch was kept back again a decent little bitch but was finished at 5 with feet and wrist problems. saw a good whippet/grey from carl williams back in the day knocked over daytime hares.Fast exciting dogs to watch some say too fast and prone to injury lack stamina etc. depends on the terrain and how much work you expect from them. some dogs are born lucky regarding injuries some are not.

  7. I was in your position nearly 30 years ago. they gave in eventually. bought a shed and built a run and flagged it.made a raised bed inside and wired it that is my job electrician. if i kept a dog on our allotments it would be gone within the week. good luck.

Started with lurchers in 1984 lamping ferreting mooching hare coursing. enjoyed the hare coursing more than anything else. always had a terrier along with the lurchers.the last few years just ferreted with the terrier.fished since i was 9 so 40 years experience grew up within a 2min walk from a canal. enjoy river fishing more than anything else fishing wise also fishing mountain tarns in cumbria.tried shooting a few times but cant shoot for shit.

I looked at asparagus as a investment crop bootsha.you dont harvest it properly till its 3rd year but a good bed can last up to 20 years. i made a raised bed just for the crop.Bought 1 year old crowns from a garden centre. the first year dont harvest. the 2nd year just harvest for the first 2 weeks or so. the 3rd year you should be harvesting for 6-8 weeksThe spears just keep coming.Keep the bed well weeded.Usually start to emerge mid april this year they have only just started. After the cropping period let them grow on they will look like tall ferns when they go brown usually autumn cut down

  15. Have you read country hearts by fred j.taylor NL. A cracking read about different people he has fished with home and abroad .Hugh Falkus,Richard Walker to name a few. Also characters in the rabbiting game.Well worth a read. I have read it Darbo,cracking read got a few of his hear,his ferreting books very good too,I think he deserves a lot of credit for his input into angling/hunting.Was ahead of his time with a lot of his coarse fishing theories,ie tench and carp fishing,Dick Walker seems to be widely accepted as the pioneer of carp fishing,Fred was heavily involved in this and deserve

  18. The smell of fresh dog shit in the classroom when some knobber had stood in it on the way to school.
  19. put in the onion sets today. transplanted cabbages, cauliflower etc. the first asparagus tips are showing usually start early april. rhubarb is growing well and all the soft fruit plants are starting to leaf up well now. fingers crossed should have some chicks tomorrow. pics to follow in the week.
