  12. i read a good article the other day written by martin holllinstead using ferrets hawks and a dog. the dog of his choice is a border collie. well worth a read. type in google martin hollinstead hawks ferrets and dogs see what you think Thanks darbo I read this a while back but have never liked border collies that much. I love the athletic look of the whippet x's and lurchers, very sleek dogs! No problem. ive ferreted since the 80s saw some very good ferreting dogs at work over the years.some very good collie crosses and beddy crosses.
  13. used mepps aglia, mepps comet, small tobys and flying condoms(small size) in the tarns of cumbria with some success.
  14. what are your tatties spaced at darb? we done rows at 2ft apart and spud seed at 18in apart down the row looks good pal thinking back jack it maybe 12-15 between spuds and 2ft betwen rows we only grow first and second early spuds. i also set fenn traps between the rows. the amount of rat damage to the spuds last year was untrue. they had burrrowed underneath and the spuds looked like apple cores.

  16. what are your tatties spaced at darb? we done rows at 2ft apart and spud seed at 18in apart down the row looks good pal Hopefully the same as yours jack. the old man cut the measuring sticks. at the age of 70 he is still a angry old man and he was in one of them moods that day. so i couldnt be arsed checking them if i would have got the tape measure out it would of lit the blue touch paper.the spade would have been above his head hitting everything in sight. i always thought plots were meant to be relaxing ours can some times resemble a war zone.
  17. only my opinion i would take the box into a electronic shop and ask their advice about ics and the other components. good idea about the pot. i found with use the wheel which was connected by a small screw would in time work loose if you didnt check it regular. good luck.
  18. i will have a go might not be much use. no1 a potentiometer or pot. no2&3 are ic intergrated circuits. no4 a wild guess at a inductance coil.no5 never seen inside this i just know it is filled with expoxy resin i think. i am a electrician with no real experience of electronics.disadvantages of a mk1 in my opinion not waterproof. colour grey for us blind lads. picked up interference overhead lines etc. the thumbwheel sometimes come loose or snapped.i could be wrong on the component list. im sure someone with electronic experience will help.

  21. Nice to see a old dog that has lasted and is highly thought of. some people these days do seem very concerned with percentages of breeds in lurchers . pity it does not always work in theory. saw quite a few breeding unknown lurchers work ,more so in the 80s some good ones among them. i also agree with paulus sometimes you do take dogs for granted and dont realise what you have got till they have gone.
  22. Some of the chicks from the above. URL=http://s1287.photobucket.com/user/darbo4/media/ferretingpics537_zps767ee388.jpg.html][/url]
  23. Bred 7 chicks from the white hen and small cockeral. both hardy birds 7 years old. the hen is still laying 3-4 eggs per week.
