  1. Out of intrest ask him why he wants them controlled ???? Then the best way for both him and you would be for him to harrow the fields the day before you start ,you can then see fresh activity, and treat accordingly, charge him per visit, laying the traps checking and resetting the traps, When you finish there should be no fresh molehills, point that out to him as sure as eggs is eggs within a couple of days more moles will come,he can then see they are fresh and not ones you have missed. Mole jobs go wrong because of a lack of communication and aggreement at the start. Good luck not all farmer
  2. Sad for your loss good luck in the future she looked a cracker
  3. Sorry for your loss mate,Want you want from a good dog is guts determination courage and blistering speed, sometimes when you mix all them up you get accidents,I know how you feel, simlar has happened to me and undoubtly others on here ,you are not on your own, good luck.
  4. A valuable couple of points there Tyke, some of the least enjoyable parts of my proffession But a must in todays enviroment. Risk Assessments, report writing, Insurance Premimium, and trap thieving scum .Ohh I wish I could go back to the days when along with my Grandad and his terriers 40 Years ago thats all we use to do was kill the Pests people wanted killed.
  5. A local authority which I control moles for, employ my services because if someone had an accident on any of their playing fields or parks as a result of tripping or falling due to mole workings they would be liable,by using me they are safeguarding themselves from insurance claims .
  6. Think it depends firstly on the organisers on who they pick for a judges, we only tend to pick judges we know work dogs and do not pick someone just because their dog is scarred, they probably dont get everyone right but who is perfect. Here are some of our judges and past champions The dog that one this years bull cross championship one last years lurcher championship
  7. you could be right there bud but but orf from it ?? When our lambs had Orf about five years ago, they were on land with a shortage of grass standing on a lot of soil feeding from creep feeders, when he said about it I thought aha we always immunise now and move the creep feeders on whenever or before the ground gets muddy around them. A racehorse trainer has me doing moles because of the fear of one of his horses breaking a leg stumbling on a mole run.
  8. The soil that the mole brings up is the best and most fertile thus reducing the quality of the soil under the meadow, mole hills grow weeds a lot quicker than most.
  9. Talking to a sheep farmer today who wanted me to control his mole population because his Lambs caught Orf from the amount soil in the field, anyone know any other reasons
  10. Just started Mole trapping for a regular customer put down Forty duffus night before last, checking today started off realy well eighteen moles, then no mole traps where they should be except f!!!!!!ing craters theiving stripies my patterdale bitch who is hunting up in front of me stops on a bank sniffing at something shinny four missing one found, the next time Iam asked a question like do you loose mole traps to badgers Iam not responding
  11. Cracking part of the country use to work over there quite a lot once,to far for me to make it pay to be honest, lucky I got plenty on around here ,thanks for the tip off though ,how come you are not up there then.
  12. With that last photo you have probably answered my next question, started taking my dogs with me trapping,I enjoy the company and the terrier rose a fox from nearby braken on Sunday, chuffed to bits she is only in her first season, anyway laid a load of traps as I always do,checked em Monday probably had 50% back filled  caught nine never had this before could it be to do with the scent of the dogs I thought???? today laid thirty twenty new traps never been buried didnt have time to much work on same farm different field fifteen caught including eleven in new traps
  13. Phew thought it was only happening to me Moley,I use to loose at least 10 15 Duffus a Year dont tend to loose so many now as I tend to follow up quite quickly,What a cracking Year so far Plenty of moles to catch.I make a few bob more by also harrowing on the first visit here is the harrows I made they go behind the back of my truck or quad depending on the weather.
  14. It is called Gods Country and you need one hell of a dog to hunt around there
  15. They advertise on here www.thedogruncompany cracking guy done hell of a good job photos dont do it justice
  16. Nooo, tricky rabbits that have been messed with by amateurs before the land owners realise they need to get a pro in and sort their problems out for them at great expense, and where my rimmys are too likely to cause damage or harm by ricochet. It will be just yet another tool of my trade to enable me to offer customers a holistic approach to an age old problem. As all the above and air rifle pellets are a lot cheaper than .17hmr or 22 I done a job the other day shot 56 rabbits with my 22 if I had my rifle then would have cost me a lot less
  17. Thanks for brining the subject up my air ranger is due back from daystate next week having just been altered to 35ft lbs cant wait, when I enquired about having it put up they said I could have gone a lot higher but there was only a choice of two pellets on the marketthat would take the pressure.

  20. Strong looking pup rio credit to you,It can sometimes be one hell of a burden for a young pup to follow behind a dog that has done you proud, good luck with him.
  21. We have been very fortunate over the last two years to enlist the help of some cracking judges, judges who have been there and done it,are still doing it.We try and keep it as entertaining as possible as well Digging competition Simulated Coursing, Racing, even a rabbit hunt with the exellent Ryeford Chase Griffon Vendeen Hounds.
  22. We hold our Game Fair in August and other shows throughout the Year and several people have commented on the standard of Dogs,We were chuffed to bits with the numbers and quality, there are huge numbers of terrier and lurchers in the South Wales valleys perhaps its a numbers thing. We got the dogs and people we just aint got the weather
  23. A mate caught me a caling bird ,so I had a few calls to do thought I would pick him up at the end of the day, drove up to his place at the end of a b*****d of a day ,and the f::::ing bird was laying in the bottom of the cage with his throat ripped out ,what do you think could have got through wire that thin
  24. Good photo intresting looking at the size of the trap ,had a discussion yesterday and we were saying the bought traps seem to be far to short and narrow, cousins made a much larger one like yours and catches regular on an allotment.
