No Ben not as far as I know. I'll let anyone that I think are decent lads use any dog they want "FREE OF CHARGE" It's them that's got to pick the shit up. That wasn't a free stud add either, if I don't know you or someone I know puts you forward it's not going to happen so don't embarrass yourself asking.

I wouldn't know I don't go in for weighing a terrier, I'm old school, I still span mine. I went to the vets once to have an operation on a bitch and I remember their weight being massively over what I thought. They're real heavy for the size of them, as NS used to say they're built like breeze blocks.

Any defects should of shown in the first mating and there were none. I'm in no rush to charge ahead with generation after generation so unless i was producing them on a conveyor belt it shouldn't of been a problem. If i'm in my forties which unfortunately i am, three more generations tops should see me done and retired. As long as i'm honest with myself i can't see a problem and if all else fails stop the family where it is and revert back to square one. I still have square one here in my yard

I like doing my own thing mate, given a choice I'd always breed my own. I said earlier I don't have all the answers, even with line breeding you'll get shit but with any luck you'll get less of it. Tell your mate to give me a bell, with all the attention I'll draw 500 a piece for my shower of shit. Tell him be quick, they'll be gone in a flash because they're chocolate drops.

Well I'm as dull as f**k, I thought I'd sent a text to a mate who wanted to go the pub Saturday lol. It's no homage FD, I've made it quite clear I don't get on with the man anymore. But I'll leave this thread with the knowledge of when I thought I'd never be able to go out again while I was at the bottom of a depression in hospital I told my misses "no body but Nicolas gets my terriers" end of and full stop. I made the offer and he turned it down, I'm grateful for that because the difference in a few months gives me hope I'll be back on a banjo sooner or later.

I was talking about an occupied earth, I don't go in for that dog marking on a lead nonsense. Each to their own but in my eyes a dog should be able to check an earth without being held back because it's so dull.

I had a dog that did that, personally I found it a fault as it quarry nearly always dug itself in or bolted before the dog got to it, not saying the dog didn't do its job when it found, but never felt confident in the dog hearing it barking while traveling through the place, only to come back out when its saying nothing home. so why the fck was it barking, strange and a bit embarrassing when out with folk, but that's opinion.I find it a fault to mate, it's frustrating as f**k. The bitch I'm talking about was one I borrowed out after my accident, she never used to do it and I'll keep my eye o

I couldn't of put that better Glyn, age is a horrible thing. I've nevet wanted to be one of those terrier men that hangs on to who he used to be, a false identity so to speak. I don't think I'll be in it for many more years myself but the decision was taken out of my hands.

I've got a bitch here that yaps and bays all the way around until she hits here game, once she's working up close she's all but mute............does this mean she's frightened of the dark ?

I don't know what his bitches worked like, I only went there for the digging and I used my dogs when I went. It's a four hour plus journey for me and I'll stand f***ing if I'm going all that way to watch someone else's dogs work. I dug Strimmer a couple of times hunting and she was spot on, and I dug Roxy once and Banjo once, not enough to give an opinion. He's no fool and his yard spoke for itself.

Dillydog Thanks again for the great pics and info and making this a very interesting thread. Was there a reason why Toby wasn't used over many bitches? Just wondering was it that there were no suitable bitches available or did you think there were better dogs out there and used them instead? Can you also become a slave to the line/too fixated with using a certain dog over a certain bitch and risk missing breeding off a dog of the calibre of Toby? Going with your head rather than going with you heart? Thanks Toby wasn't used over many bitches because i was a snot nos

Ruby, a class act all her working career, she's now on three legs and still does a bit, semi retirement. She's not my bitch but i've got her daughter, she's the bitch third from the right in the picture of four bitches. She's done more work than you could shake a stick at and probably more than everything in my yard put together.

Your right about the political shit that goes with this terrier malarkey, I bite to easy myself so I'm not judging anyone. Big heads and big egos lol, the bloods still here whether it's me or the next man we're all just polishing turds. I was of the opinion when I was in the groove digging anything I came across that no generation before this one had any decent terriers and none of the fuckers could use a banjo like me "fool". I had a day out with two old boys to dig a massive old place that I know where these old farts were in regular, I've always wanted a go at it because I've never h
