  1. Ask for an invite and then go straight back behind their back, also don't miss the old trick of asking all the farms next door to your mates permission
  2. Pack up and move on, there's no future in terrier work
  3. She looks all there, fit and shining too
  4. I keep all of my terriers together, always under supervision but I can keep the lot out all day without issue. Calm and settled, no idiots tied up waiting their turn, you crack on and do it your way, I'm happy with what I've got and the way I go about it.
  5. Any other dog on the bank might dominate a pup, the whole experience might overwhelm them, why take the risk when I don't make mistakes the way I do it
  6. It works for me MG, i don't want my youngsters wound up or intimidated, all I do is walk them over a few well run places and once they start to mark it's up to me to find the right sort of place to give them a fair crack of the whip
  7. I don't think we're talking about young entered dogs, I'm talking about unentered terriers. I want to give them the best of chance to blossom on their own, with no excitement or intimidation from any other dog. Calm, cool and well mannered
  8. Spot on FD, don't follow that reply up because it can't be bettered. I mooch around the stream behind my house with every pup I have, from 8 weeks old upwards they're given free reign to piss about and take it all in. At 8 month old upwards I'll let them walk over earth's (on a lead) just to see if they mark it. Maybe it won't be the first earth, maybe it won't be the first day, but within a few earth's or days I'll guarantee they'll be marking strong desperate to get in and investigate the smell that's firing their curiosity. I NEVER take a pup onto a dig, every single terrier I enter
  9. Come and disciplin this ginger b*****d of mine, he's not wired up right ?
  10. I'd say you've all got rose tinted glasses on, I saw nothing back then that I'd kennel now. Obviously there was kennels of decent terriers but they were fewand far between
  11. One week you've got to many, the next you need some more ?, been there on a regular basis
  12. The trouble with keeping just one or two is you can soon fall flat on your face, if you keep maybe one or two more than you need you can juggle them about and help out other lads that you know. I enjoy the process of bringing a youngster on, watching all the pennies drop and their talents shine through. I don't have enough work for a lot of terriers, I'm to miserable to kiss enough arse to help myself out there lol. Then you've got the fact that 90% of lads haven't a clue how to bring out the best in a terrier, I'd sooner do it for them and then put the dog out with him or her fi
  13. And some of us can't shake off our past and keep far to many just to go through the process ! I'd sooner keep a few pups and know they had the best of socialisation, the best entery and the best chance of becoming all they can be. ...........just to place them with lads that do plenty and look after them. Age has no respect for any man
  14. I've had two many years ago, 30+ years ago ! Jesus that makes me feel old. They were both wreckless to say the least, one I only had a hand full of digs over before I had to PTS, the other I parted company with because it was heading in the same direction. I was to young and stupid to own a dog of that nature, my experience didn't match the dogs drive and and nature. If I was honest, even now I wouldn't have a dog like that given to me, with all the experience I've had I couldn't watch a dog self destruct like those two did.
  15. It's different for every single one of us, what floats your boat may not float mine. Even the work style is objective, some like them hard, some don't, as long as you're happy with the dog you keep I wouldn't give two fucks what anyone else thought, stamp or work style.
  16. I've seen plenty of terriers driven to messing around in empty places by just using them out of the quad. I wouldn't say it made them any less of a finder, just more likely to believe there's always something home because they don't know any different
  17. Going off memory MIK I'd say it was, I didn't see a lot of her RH would know more
  18. Some bitching going on lads, just have a get together for a goup hug or good old fashioned straightener............you'll feel better for it
  19. I sprayed a weak mix through an old window cleaning spray bottle, it's frightening when you think of some of the dull shit we do.........?
  20. You've got to die of something, I'll die happy knowing there's no tics or fleas on my nuts
