    In the right hands the breeding can be controlled,how often do people breed with thought or reason behind it?.The same can be said of any type of lurcher i suppose,each to their own,thats the beauty about lurchers,what suits one may not suit his neighbour,theres a type out there to suit every kennel and hunting lifestyle.

    Collie/Grey x Deerhound/Grey type,ive owned a few Beddy lurchers,to me they always needed something more,the dogs i now run don,t,i also own a few Beddy,s.Plus,terrier infusion throws a litter all over the place for generations.

    Not unheard of if you take the time and trouble to source them instead of jumping on the "ive never seen or heard of one,so there cannot possibly be any" bandwagon of ignorance and lack of any real knowledge.Working type Bedlingtons,on the whole are seldom used in lurcher breeding because its easier to source a taller KC bred Beddy from supposed working kennels.With hybrid vigour coming to the fore with this breeding its seldom that a beddy lurcher,even in the wrong kennels,fails to make the grade at some work or another.If i had to id go with Beddy/Greys as they make a more reliable and usefu

    Watch for the warning signs that may build into something more serious,if the dogs persist in pushing each others boundaries then one will have to go,or you will only have a lurcher.

    If id have seen them kicking their wife,granny and kids,i would,nt have batted an eyelid,if the little kid,with tears running down his cheek had cried out for help to save his dear old gran,id have told him to stop being so bloody soppy and help his dad out.

    Another that fails for whatever reason,i cannot keep blaming the education system,to understand the difference between somebody not looking after a pup and something that is totally different and a tad more serious.Somebody tried breaking into the house last week,i managed to catch them both,explain to them the error of their ways,then i called the Police.They are both up at Bradford magistrates in Sept.perhaps you could tag along and ask the Judge the difference for you.If id have seen them kicking a dog id have walked past and minded my own.

    Yes its the same,rape and molesting kids is just as bad as somebody keeping a pup in poor condition and living in a doss hole,ive gone through life pretending to myself that some crimes are a little more serious than and deserving of different punishment,ive obviously been given substandard education to make me feel this way,i can see now that neglecting a pup deserves trial at the Old Bailey and 4 years imprisonment,now that would be a detterent. your still a grass but if you report them its inbred pmsl oh maybe you should got a better education then the schools up here are good lol Ive a r

    The last thing you do is report to the filthy scum that would take our sport away from us,if you can seriously justify reporting somebody for a dog with fleas living in a shithole,then you are not the right sort to be mixing in hunting circles.Either tell the owner to his face to sort the mutts out,fling him 1/2 the asking price and sort the dog out yourself,or walk away.All these that are horrified by a neglected pooch living in a doss hole and wanting to do the honourable thing,get off your high thrones and look out the window,you must live sheltered lifes.

    Two things id like in life before i win the lottery and retire to a public house with a brothel one side and a curry house the other.One of these super lurchers that never make a mistake,outrun,outhunt and outkill everything else before them,the second would be an honest reliable and trustworthy companion that would vouch for the dog and owners prowess and not turn into a sneaky,petty twisted slimeball at the first opportune moment.Ive probably more chance of a lottery win methinks.

    First one i took on was 29" ex track,i wanted it to line a lurcher bitch,i thought if im feeding it, it better start earning its keep.This was in the ,s.Decent dog on open land and mullered fox,s,run it to hard and had to carry it back on several occasions,hit a wall and was pts.next one was an ex track bitch,took me 6 months to get it jumping right,made an accomplished hare dog,but again could,nt handle hard work and sometimes got a piggy back home,she woodened a terrier and its pups i owned and turned feisty around other dogs and ended up in a hole.Id never take on another ex track dog,a pup

    A simple word of warning,be very,very careful whom you choose to share a day or night in the field with,some of them will be more interested in looking for faults and missed opportunities,which at a later date they will be more than willing to dredge up,usually as part of a petty feud or vendetta.Back on point,a bigger type lurcher,imo,is a much better prospect in the field and should never struggle with a bunny,certain smaller lurchers would obviously be much better suited to bunny bashing,on the whole,but how many people really want a dog that will be used soley for scutters,if rabbits are y

    Ive never stopped a bitch working when she,s been in season,ive never had a bitch that wanted to stop because of it.Whenever the dogs out the owner should be able to read the dog and its actions,notice any lack of desire etc. and then act accordingly,missing these tell tale signs the dog gives is what can cause any problems.

    I see many posts on here that are there to try and draw an illegal response from the brainless minority,who are only to eager to take the bait.Certain wannabe,s and feckwits also need protecting from themselves.Certain orgaisations trawl these sites for more ammunition to use against all of us.It takes something away from the site,but also protects it and the members who don,t seem to have the gumption to learn to work within the law,or at least seem to be.

    Used to be an hotbed of lurchers and terriers in that area,the shows used to be well supported,it won,t have helped with Halifax being on the same day.Shame really because they,ve found a decent new location and its held for all the right reasons.

    Its difficult enough now to run anything the majority of dogs are bred for and so many of us in the not to distant past could do legally,you have to cut your cloth now to fit and blend in,going in to open flat countryside to get a decent gallop isn,t the smartest option,yet lads have always gone where quarry resides and the runs are guaranteed.Is it worth the hassle and prosecution,it was pre-ban for the less fainthearted,now with the risk of losing motors,your licence and possibly job it takes more than a not so faint heart to take your chance,fair play to the lads that risk it,at least they
