The Rise of the Verminators newest action advert.
pianoman replied to zini's topic in General Airgun Discussion
That's a fantastic work Si. Delightedly surprised to see Andy and me included. We had a really great day when you came over to shoot with us. Hope it's not too long before we all get together in Field No 1 for another long range precision shoot. I'm mighty impressed with the .25 calibre shooting you show at the beginning here. Cheers mate. (And hoping you haven't become one of today's enforced Defense Cuts!) Simon -
gas ram and bi-pod. will it work?
pianoman replied to symnsm's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
....I tried to tell you old sport!..... I won't go out without my beany seat cushion and padded gunslip. My leading hand supports my HW77 forestock and the beany seat supports my forearm and relieves the stress of the weight on my arm. Very useful when prolonged periods of scanning with the scope in between kill-shots on far-and-few rabbits are the order of the day. All the best. Simon -
Awwfor for sucks fake is there no end to this Graham Bros Bollocks? Amazes me how they are constantly doing their damndest best to fake-up third persons to "speak up" how nice and contrite they are. I once had a long and meaningfull open chat with Steve Graham here in which he made all the usual pleas of innocence and it's all a big misunderstanding blah blah. I told him if this was so, he should get on here and fess up and set the record straight. I think Webby might remember this as he gave him an encouraging word too. He did nothing of anything to help himself. Despite all his ass

gas ram and bi-pod. will it work?
pianoman replied to symnsm's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
Hi Symnsm. NO! The negatives are not without reason. Spring and gasram air rifles recoil with a fair amount of vibration shock. Gas-rams particularly have a hefty amount of snap recoil. Both will bounce off any solid rest, like a bipod and throw the shot wild. .22 and 17HMR cartridge rifles have next to no felt recoil and the bullet is clear away before any recoil effect takes place. That's why bipods are fine on fulbore rifles. From what I've heard of bipods on spring and gas-rams, it seems you can get a zero off a bipod per-se but, once you change your aim-direction the whole harm -
Personally mate you'd be a lot better off starting with a nice compact 3-9x40 scope for your rifle here, than this monster. You'll then perhaps better appreciate what this mega mag scope is and what it can do with a lot more understanding of it as an accurate target optic. But it's not going to help you much in a low light dawn/dusk hunting situation where a much lower mag setting is going to be greatly needed. Still it's all experience and that's always a good thing.

Jesus it's big ain't it! Scopes are zeroed in commonsense fashion. ELEVATION TURRET = UP AND DOWN. WINDAGE TURRET= LEFT/RIGHT. Decide on what range you wish to shoot at; mark your target with a fine dot as an aim-point and fire. If you are, let's say, lower and well left of your mark. You need to raise the elevation to line your next shots perfectly level with your mark. Next, turn your windage turret to right to bring your shots across to land on your mark. When you can hit your target perfectly on the crosshair at your preferred range, your riflescope is zeroed to your rifl

Hello John. Chairgun programm is very accurate to work with once you get the hang of it. But it still needs you out in the field to shoot your rifle and see what it's truly doing over your hunting ranges. Accurate calibration of your scope's mildots is not that difficult. Just needs a bit of patient work in the field. I'd suggest you try using a 25 METRES (more accurate to work with than yards) zero as a datum and then set targets at 10 to 50 metres measured with an accurate tape. When you have 25 metres perfect centre-centre zero, wind down your mag to it's lowest setting 3xmag.

Cheers for reply Davy. I forgot he's gone to Canada for a while. I'd love to get down to the meet but money is really tight. And I'm looking to find a new place to set up home myself right now. We'll see though eh! All the best mate. Simon

GENTLEMEN. Amazing how much folks love a bloody good storm in a tea cup. I was out with my beloved HW77 .22 tonight, now the barley's harvested and whacked 7 good rabbits and a 45 metre squirrel straight out of a tree in the woods edge. Saw a roe deer wander out of the forrest and a badger snuffling in the woodland hedgerows. I had a really lovely night on my permission all to myself. I even had a moment to remember how much I enjoyed the early summer when Si Pittaway/zini spent time here shooting with me and Andy. Of how we made that little video of all three of us hitting a penny c

What would you buy? Rifle now bought ;)
pianoman replied to DSDL-35's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
WEIHRAUCH HW80 or HW77 for the money you have would make a fantastic hunting rifle bargain. HW90 is a gas-ram and very reliable and accurate. Non will dissapoint you I can assure you. -
thats easy just go poach someone else's permission like you normally do !!! atb gary Good advice from someone that also poaches on land there not ment to shoot on ! grow up. Hello what's going on here? All's well with Darryl sorting your kit out but you get into some sort of ruck with his brother Gary? Festa's one the nicest lads in shooting I've ever corresponded with. He is also one of the finest shots you could learn a few from and has plenty of decent permission. I really don't think the childish remark about him poaching on land he has no permission for shooting is eve

I must say, regardless of the legal situation regarding these guns I'm not wildly impressed with the accuracy I've seen from these FX MONSOON auto air rifles so far. End of the day it's about how accurately and consistently well you can hit your target at a range you can reasonably handle. Not how many rounds you can spray off at If you need more than one shot to kill a rabbit or any live quarry, straight out, you should not be anywhere near hunting for them with any air rifle. It makes an impressive tin can plinker. But not much else. No thank you. Simon

help setting new sights
pianoman replied to jarrodevs's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
Hi Jarrod. From your post it sounds like you have a scope that's better suited to a fullbore hunting rifle as this type of reticle is usually designed to allow the shooter to compensate for bullet-drop and drift at determined distances. However, the thing to do is zero your rifle on the central, lower crosshair. This should at least bisect the sightpicture centrally through your view through the lenses. Then, see where your second, 10mtr shot hits. The upper crosshair may provide you with reasonable "hold-under" info It may be possible for you to calibrate your rifle pellet's tra -
Hi mate and welcome. I can only add to the excellent advice of the other lads when I say you really don't need to get into lazers just yet when you are developing your marksmanship skills. Knowing how to zero your scope to your rifle's barrel bore centre is far more important. It's imperative that you know your pellet is as perfectly correct for your rifle's barrel as possible or none of the above advice remotely begins to benefit your shooting. You'll soon know when you are onto a winning pellet when your rifle starts producing very tight groups with a particular brand/headsize/weight.

No solid rest mate. Use a soft cushioning beany seat or bag to rest and support your leading forearm as your hand supports the forend. The TX200 Mklll is beautiful shooting rifle but you need to shoot it correctly to shoot it accurately. Prone is the best platform to build spring rifle accuracy on. ATB Simon

Would you kindly pass it on to me Wurze, please when you have finished reading it as, thanks to this shit laptop going tech, I've been unable to respond to Rake's kind offer in time. I'll return it to you mate as soon as I can. As I have steadfastly refused all PCP rifles and have decided that I will be a springer man to my last shot. I could do with some technical reference know-how to keep my beloved rifles as good as new. I'll copy what I think is essential and get it back to you ASAP. Rake this is very kind of you to offer up a valuable book as this. Simon

I have just figured out why they have returned!
pianoman replied to secretagentmole's topic in General Airgun Discussion
I have to say though Mike that, I agree with Matt in the main. Maybe I'm not as astute at sussing people out as Andy is (he's amazingly sharp actually, at how he's picked up on this sort of thing before!) But it does bother me that a genuine lad with a gun or something to sell, maybe not so hot on his English/spelling, might get mistaken for one of the Grahams. Just because he shows a similar flaw or two. And Gloucester must be full of as many shooters as anywhere else. Just be careful and absolutely completely certain before all this crap leads to something like paranioa and the wron -
Blimey Gary you alright mate? Hope you aren't in much discomfort. Get well soon pal! All the best. Simon

Jesus what a shifty-eyed little b*****d... And she looks like a feckin shoplifter!

WHAT THE CUFF HAS BEEN GOIN ON HERE!?? I turn my back to focus on my work for a while and now, I see the Scammin Grahams are back getting everyone's blood boiling. HASN'T ANYONE GIVEN THIS WHOLE CHAV-SCUM FAMILY A THOROUGH BLOODY GOOD SMACKING YET?

Need desrate help with tx200 a.s.a.p
pianoman replied to chris k's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
As with Davy. I have both TX200 rifle and HC carbine and I cannot understand what mistake you could have made. Glad to hear you've got it sorted though whatever it was. Simon -
Silencer for my HW77
pianoman replied to TheYorkshireHunter's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
Hi Sean. Have a look at one by Bisley. It fits over the muzzle via the latch-up and foresight block and you secure it with a grubscrew. Google search for one I've seen by a German maker (I can't remember the name) that's longer and looks the better of the two. To be honest though, I've heard they are not that good at reducing the air-crack so, I'm not sure they are worth the cost of finding and fitting. Simon -
Wonderful rifles, Weihrauch. Nothing else beats them to be honest . I've owned an HW35E Export.22, an HW95k .22, several HW80s including the two 80s' I have at present and my beloved HW77 .22 full-length rifle. All of them have proved themselves in the hunting field countless times with absolute reliability and phenominal accuracy. In my opinion the HW77 is the finest spring underlever air rifle you can buy. It's still better than the HW97 that was intended to replace it -and that is an amazing rifle too. If I was ever to turn to PCP shooting, the HW100 would have to be the one to have.

35 Metres on the 3rd mildot down on my Hawke 6-18X44 SR12/HW77 .22; set to 14.5 mag. Gives me all the range options I need to shoot as accurately as possible.
