  1. My pup seems obsessed with birds and is constantly trying to nail them in the garden. I’m hoping she doesn’t grew out of it and accidentally nabs a few pheasants on our mooches. Anyone else’s dog take to feathers?
  2. A bit of heat can make a dog look out of shape. Especially if heavy build and heavy coat type.
  3. As of most things nowadays the minority can spoil it for others. Also with trial by Social Media and a lot of people thinking all hunting with dogs is illegal the odds are stacked against you. I’ve never gained any permission solely for working lurchers it was gained by shooting. Once “in” with the landowner it was a case of bringing the dog along. I’ve sold my guns some years ago and I’m happy to just mooch around Dartmoor watching the dogs work.
  4. My dream is a log cabin on my own bit of land out in the sticks with a log burner and no neighbours. Obviously with SKY Tv and a jacuzzi round the back though.
  5. My 2 can be left together now no problem. Until her first season but that’s another problem.
  6. I totally get where you are coming from. I’ve not long introduced a pup to the household all be it an older dog to a bitch pup and my daughters not a kid. I think you are doing right by checking her behaviour. I reckon she’s just letting the pup know who’s boss. Tbh I was worried about my 2 but they are fine now. My older dogs still bares his teeth at her and properly lets her know when he’s had enough but never crosses the line. I was on edge for a week or so but actually missed the sign one day when the old dog flew at the pup and I thought the pup was a gonna. But the dog just let her know
  7. The older dog will want its space, it doesn’t want a pup invading it. She’s more than likely just setting boundaries for the pup. I think it’s very rare that an older dog will actually attack a pup but you or the wife will need to be on top of things. It might take some time but pretty sure it will work out.
  8. Stick with it if you can. Hopefully it works out?
  9. Cheers, she’s worker to worker bred collie, Sal and not 100% sure tbh. Parents doing their jobs and thought I’d give her a go. I’ll just be mooching about and bit of lamping nothing to serious. She’s about 8 month and around 22” TTS.
  10. Mine to bring on next season, won’t be doing to much with her nice and steady with this one.
  11. Totally agree on the looks mean nowt , at the end of the day “it’s what’s between the ears that count more”. Bloody hell that was a good line lol.
  12. It was a bit of a daft post just a bit bored. But I still don’t get where the ears have come from. Don’t the non ped whips usually have a bit of grey in them and they aren’t pricked eared.
  13. So that’s why they have massive fecking ears so they can hear them.
  14. WTF do Whippets have pricked ears now, I’m sure they never used to years ago.
  15. I’ll give you a shout in the week.
  16. Cheers Geth, she’s shaping up ok.
  17. Worker to worker bred, has Sal, deerhound and collie in her.
  18. She’s nearly six months old, I’m out of quarantine and ready to step things up a bit. Looking forward to getting out on the Moor.
  19. Locals reckon the young uns are fine on bbq. Edited to add that everything tastes better off the bbq though
  20. Yep Warthogs, I’m working in Kenya atm and these come right up to the Rig. Take some dog to work one of them, pure muscle and bad attitude.
  21. Feck that, I’ll stick to rabbits lol.
  22. It’s a cracking little read, I really enjoyed it. As for walking a different path, if it’s something you’re passionate about there’s only one path you can follow.
