  1. They look in fantastic condition.
  2. Looks and sounds ideal that extra inch turns her into general purpose rather than rabbit specialist ?
  3. I personally think a rabbiting dog shouldn’t be to big and definitely not to small something around 21-23” TTS. Quick off the mark, agile ,soft mouthed , good nose and tough not just feet but physically and mentally .So basically a pup from parents that have those attributes would be my choice not necessarily based on breed type. Obviously no guarantees on the out come but gives you a fighting chance. But the biggest clincher on choosing a pup is the wife’s got to like it ?
  4. Most on here are allergic to getting off their arses and taking their dogs out ?. How come the Lakeland doesn’t cause any allergies?
  5. That’s a bit of a contradictory statement, but I get what you are saying. There are so many variables when bringing a dog on that could make or break it. Just because they are from a well bred line doesn’t mean you are going to get a world beater.
  6. Surely all dogs are individual regardless of breeding. I’m sure there are a few below par Saluki and whippet greyhound crosses about.
  7. My pup Mabel is out of Jeff’s line not directly from him though I think he has stopped breeding.I got my bitch from a lad in South Wales who works his dogs regularly and he is more than pleased with them. I’m 100% they would work all quarry prior to the ban!!! My bitch is intelligent, eager to please and taking to obedience and retrieve training very well. It’s far to early to say how she will do hunting but the signs are good so far. She will be one in October when I will start her off gradually. She was a bit spooky and reactive at times but as she gets older and being socialised more she is
  8. Brilliant that, if my pup turns out as useful as that I’ll be well happy.
  9. She is definitely agile and hopefully will only improve as she gets older. Tbh I’ve never owned a dog so fluid and flexible. Almost as flexible as a ferret lol.
  10. Cheers, she worker to worker bred. But has Collie, Sal , deerhound and greyhound and probably a lot more in the mix along the way. I was also told there’s something called Bowline from a few generations back ?
  11. 8 months or so now. Probably levelled out around 22-1/2” TTS. Can’t see her getting any taller but you never know. Hopefully turns into a decent little hunter/companion.
  12. Pigeons have extremely loose feathers and can mess up a dog retrieve very easily. A guy once told me to cut the corner off a plastic bag and poke the pigeons head through for training. He reckoned it would make the dog retrieve the pigeon by its head only. He said dogs don’t like the feeling of a plastic bag in their mouths!!! I never did give it ago, my dog at the time used to nick any plastic carrier bags left laying around and rip them to shreds if given the chance.
  13. She’s around 8 months or so, not done a lot with her yet tbh. Just working on obedience and bit of retrieving but she’s definitely interested in feathers.
  14. I’ll take that Phil. I love nothing more than a mooch about the countryside and hopefully this pup might catch something now and again lol.
  15. I intend to Fred. The more strings to her bow the better, well that’s the plan anyway. In the past a Lurcher dog I had didn’t mind pheasants but refused to retrieve pigeon because of the loose feathers. Just ended up standing over them with a gob full of feathers lol. That was when I used to shoot though. See how she goes but I do like roast pheasant for Sunday dinner?
  16. Mines almost cat like lol.
  17. Have you discouraged her or just her focus changes?
  18. Yes good shout, there’s one 15mins up the road. I will definitely do that?
  19. Yes mate I know she’ll be a year old, I won’t be rushing her and will probably just hang around to begin with see how she reacts.
  20. I totally agree, I’ll be more than happy if she can nab a few. I’m not that fussed about numbers of any quarry really, just like watching a dog work.
  21. Hello mate hope you’re well? Yeah that sounds like a plan definitely will be encouraging her. I might get into beating again but see how she goes ,she’s a bit sensitive but seems to be getting more and more confident. Maybe a shoot day will be pushing it a bit but she’s still young yet.
  22. Yeah I get that ,but wouldn’t mind her pinning a few pheasants now and again.
