    Proper terriers are bred to work all quarry is a load of bollocks,if i wanted rabbits i would get a fcuking ferret.Round me there is rabbit warrens as big and deep as any fox earth,would'nt like to have to dig 6ft to a rabbit.Its your pup do as you will but if it was mine def keep it away from the bunnies.

    To be honest id try her at both cant see why she cant unless anyone thinks diffrent Bushing for rabbits is good crack,but when your bitch starts going to ground on them its a pain in the arse espesially if your out foxing,keep her away from them try her at rats she wont get to ground on them.jmho.

    To make it worth £500 it would depend on what its workin and why its for sale in the first place.I know most of the diging lads i know would not sell a good worker,so you would have to get a good trial period with the dog to see is there any faults and to see does it suit meet your expectations and then if your happy and have the cash to spare then its up to you.Remember 1 or 2 digs is not a trial ive seen dogs jack after 4 or 5 digs,also you pick the earths you are gona dig to it in nice testing ones.

    I fish from the 1st of march,have some of the best wild brown trout lakes in ireland on my doorstep.

    I would personally prefer bitch's to dogs.I think they mature earlier and dont tend to be as head strong as dogs.They also normally a handier size,but as a few have said hard to get a real good one.

    Have to agree with liam earth dogs that kill brock to ground are few and far between.As liam said a lot of lads have said they dug to a dead badger and give the terrier the credit but most would have smothered from just gettin dug in.

    That was a very good dig without locater,fair play,how long did it take to locate dog and did ye get a result at the end.That looks about 10ft you must have great hearing or the terrier in question had some voice on him.Dug maybe 6to7ft a few times years back without locater to a brilliant sounder who could mix it aswell.These days im like my old dog half deaf an half blind,thank god for locaters.

    How many lads on here have actually dug to terriers before the locater,and il bet there's a lot that never have unless a collar or locater has f****d up.They were a great invention many the good dog was lost to ground before they were used.Some will say a terrier is not tested because of the locater but i say better to dig 8ft and have your dog out in a couple of hours than to be lieing on the sod listening for any sound for hours before even diging and at the end maybe a dead dog.Idug for maybe 10year pre locater but not anymore.

    Theres even plenty about these days that would not last one dig even with locater on,but pre ban and pre locater it had to be a terrier that sounded a lot or else too hard to locate a hard dog was of limited use maybe to finish a job in an awkward place but little else.

    Says it all what you mean MD.You saying you would let a fox bolt say after it killed lambs or game birds and wave bye at it,dont think you would have that permission very long.Nothing wrong with a lurcher for a fox bolting especially in places where a gun cannot be used.

    Not all of us hunt with hounds SHAMO and we all dont carry guns to acomadate a fox bolting,so its handy to have a lurcher about especially when a fox is doin harm.A farmer or keeper would not be happy to see you waving bye..bye to a killer.I rarely if ever need a lurcher to draw the terrier will always be on top of it then its down to the man who digs it or the land owner if hes about.I would far sooner see a good lurcher work than to see a fox been shot,no sport in that.JMHO.
