no, technically you dont need insurance, but in this day and age, seems people are looking at suing others over the slightest thing, so its in your interest, should this ever happen, without insurance, have you got an endless pit of money, if someone was to sue you also having it, can only improved your chances of gaining permission, example 5 lads go to a farmer and ask for permission to shoot/ferret his land, you say, to him, you have full public liability insurance to the value of 2 million. the others just say, "we want to shoot things" who do you think he will give permission too

you dont turn a collar on, just stick the batteries in it, make sure they are the right way round, put a 9v in your locator, then turn the dial on the side to switch on

just use screws(that arnt longer than thickness of ply) and some washers, or bolts instead of screws, put more than one screw in each side, in case 1 comes out will carrying

point taken mate, but your spelling in your first, maybe hurried post, seems perfect to me, so with all those books, surely you could have thumbed through and got the correct spelling, as you say, the ferret was the most important thing in that post, and you have now taken her to the vets and hopefully got it sorted, my remark was aimed at all new ferret keepers, but dont try blaming it on being dyslexic (I had to look that spelling up)

Well if you read the origonal post you will see in brackets the poster said he didnt know what else to call it, so the replys were taylored to that, yes i do know what its called , i have one myself Appologies for not using the correct terimology but the basic advice was seek a vet & thats all that matters at the end of the day did realise that kay, and Im sure you have a very nice lady garden was just pointing out the need for new owners to prehaps read up on their intended pet/worker before rushing out and buying

thats Insurance you took out on YOURSELF, jmilam wants a public liability insurance, which covers others, there property etc, Id recomend the SACS as it covers you on anything hunting related except horses, the basc type I think only covers shooting

I presume were talking the pin point knob, mk3 have them, dont know about the mk2's anyway, lets say your standing over the warren, on search mode, you can turn 360 degree's and it will still flash and make the buzzing noise, so you start turning the pinpoint knob, until its just about make the buzzing silent, now as you turn, it will only buzz when your pointing it in the direction of the collar, pointing anywhere else will be silent, plus your led's should go higher, so it a bit like a homing in device, each time you take a step or two nearer your ferret, adjust the knob so it nearly cuts o

its horses for corses mate, I got a pump to start with as it was about £100 cheaper, being a smoker, that lasted for a week, and the shop exchanged it for a bottle, think a pumps ok if your just plinking in the garden, but serious hunting, Id say, get a bottle

shooting live quarry, head shots only my friend, you'vre said yourself it aint dropping straight away, surely that would answer your question, you'll get some replies on here saying a shot to the engine (heart/lungs) will kill a rabbit, but the pellet has got to get through fur/skin/muscle/bone etc before it can hit its target, where as a shot to the head and its done,

on the outside of my court, which is an old METAL anderson shelter, which also forms part of the inside, of the outside run, I used exterior water based emulsion, fine once dryed, although a few of the ferrets did have green nose's where they were being nosey oh, and it painted ok onto the metal areas

a mk1 box will pick up mk1 and mk3 collars, but not mk2, the mk2 collar makes the box "knock" at a different pitch, easy to hear, if two different collars are in use

your back to front paddy, search, gives you from 20foot to 2foot, once the lights are at the 2, switch to locate thats from 10foot to 1 foot, so you maybe on search at 2foot, switching to lacate, may put the lights back upto 10foot, but its finer tuning, so should then take you down to a possible 1 foot, depending how far down the ferret is

the lights are simply an indication of the depth, weather your in search or locate mode, start off, searching, chuck the collar up the garden, as you get nearer to it in search mode, the lights will come down from left(highest away) to the right (lowest away, once the light is showing the min number, flick the switch over to locate, the lights should now go back to the left side, start waving the finder left and right, to pick up the collar, once the bleeps are heard, and a directection figured out, the lights will again, come from left to right, the closer you get, untill your directly on th

I have the .22 TDR great rifle to use, normally get around 50 shots per fill, but that is not to empty, just you can see the pellets falling off after that does the one you have seen come complete with the carry holder and silencer?, you'd want that in the price

trust me, your putting them on too loose are they mk1 or mk3? mk3 my jills get them fitted at the smallest hole, still alive and breathing, but my first attempts, i always tought id be strangling them, try tighter
