  1. if you carry on handling them as you say, then there really shouldent be a time that they latch on for real, Ive had nips from ferts, but only one ever truely latched on, and that was my daughters pet one, think she was broody and was trying to take my arm into her cage slight pressure both sides of the jaw, where top and bottom jaw meet and prise the jaws apart, I did have two hobs latch onto each other while ferreting, luckerly I was standing by a stream, and a quick dunk under with them both, soon made them let go of each other
  2. that looks like a full bladder to me (orange/yellow sac)
  3. good pictures, show's you did'nt wee them before gutting
  4. cant you find a work mate who doe's the same hours as you to tag along? I too work nights, sun to thurs, so friday night lamping is no problem, can do the same hours as though I was at work, 9pm to 5am, and yeah, same here, my missus is ok with it, barring when I climb into bed smelling of rabbit
  5. god loves try'ers nearly all of your topics are asking for free or cheap stuff http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/index...t&p=1104931 jackoleeds kindly says he has an old scope, yet you have/had 3 rifles for sale, one with a scope, you sure you dont want all this cheap or free stuff to sell on the only thing I have which is free, is advice, ease up on the text talk in your posts, its against forum rules and will get deleated
  6. if all that fails, chuck them in the buy, and buy some off woodga
  7. its all down to the ferts, I have two intact brothers that live together throughout the year and get on great, also have another four that are all kept seperate
  8. if you forget the knife, I take it you aint seen the clip of the "popping" technique of magwitch's then
  9. the belly meat is still there, its just on the flap of skin thats pulled back, so once your skinning indoors you can save that bit mattydski, when we do it, its like a conveyer belt, magwitch nicks and pulls, then throws them in front of me, I pull the bits out, and drop into pre dug hole
  10. just thought I'd put this clip up, Ive posted it in the rimfire section, but its the same way we gut rabbits after ferreting, so thought it may come in useful for a few of you for the forthcoming season, its a very quick way of gutting large amounts of rabbits, if your selling the meat on, its probably not what a dealer/butcher would want to see, but for your own freezer, fert and dog food, it saves alot of time and you only loose the belly skin, as an example, we gutted 45 rabbits in 5 minutes flat, thats just over 6 seconds per rabbit, the clip shows the shit bag is split in the sec
  11. pictures would be good, along with prices
  12. so would we get a percentage of the sale price, as Ive seen some very high prices on "works of art"
  13. the hob is easiest and cheaper of the two, get him snipped, and he'll bring the jill out of season each year, although you wont be able to keep them together throughout the summer, as he'd rag her silly, or get him castrated and they can stay together all year round
  14. fresh rabbit, chopped into chunks, look at dogs that are fed on tinned dog food, there glands get full up because the arse aint working the way it was made to, the anal glands are there for a reason, to help expel bones/hard matter, if they only ever expel soft, the glands fill up dont know if a fert have these glands, but ferts, even kitts are meat/ bone eaters, not soft food eaters
  15. most probably from being shot, rather than the gutting, were not trying to say this is the best way on earth, but a quick method of gutting lots of rabbits in a short time, I dont know about everyone else, but at 03-30am in the morning, when its just starting to spit with rain, I want to get the gutting finished quick and onto the journey home for anyone worried about the odd burst bit here and there, carry on with your own particular method
  16. although I feed biscuit to kitts, its never wetted, always fed dry and make sure there's plenty of water available, but has to be alongside fresh rabbit every day
  17. no to both questions, the nick is made on the rib cage area, so you cant "nick" anything but bone, then your simply pulling the belly skin away with your fingers once open, two fingers are inserted, one either side of the stomach, then pulled down, that removes all the bits you dont want, but leaves the liver and kidneys, it will take a few attempts to perfect, but you can get bloody fast at it....
  18. or just get a lamp and red filter... tonights/this mornings bag
  19. after our last outing lamping, a few replies remarked how we gutted the rabbits, as it looks like a chainsaw had been taken to them, so after tonights/this morning lamping session, magwitch kindly demostration they way whilst I filmed, we use the rabbits ourselves, food for us,dogs and ferts, wether a butcher would be happy I dont know, but to get an idea of the quickness, we gutted 45 rabbits in 5 minutes flat, that's just over 6 secs per rabbit
  20. I just think its to far fetched..... I mean, a ginger kid having TWO FRIENDS
