  1. Neither did I. I thought it was the done thing, normal for want of a better word. It's only as I got older I found out it wasn't. He had his own demons I suppose. It's just the was it was. Atb j
  2. This week in 1952 at the very least 4,000 people died from breathing difficulties, during a severe London smog. It could have been as much as 12,000. Heavy smog begins to hover over London, England, on December 4, 1952. It persists for five days, leading to the deaths. It was a Thursday afternoon when a high-pressure air mass stalled over the Thames River Valley. When cold air arrived suddenly from the west, the air over London became trapped in place. The problem was exacerbated by low temperatures, which caused residents to burn extra coal in their furnaces. The smoke, soot and su
  3. Mine was much the same, but he was violent, I took some beatings as a child and teenager, wasn't overly upset when he died Atb j
  4. And a lot of British people don't even know this took place, and that it was man made. But they picked themselves up, dusted off their rags and got on with it, no choice. On wards and up wards. Atb j

  8. The things that shouldn't change in raising childern is, bring them up, well fed, clothed, educated, honest, respectful, protected and most of all loved. If that can be done, then their should be nothing to worry about. Atb j
  9. That's so true. Times have changed. I was listening to a radio program not long ago about some thing like this topic. The amount of couples that said they couldn't afford to have children was mind boggling. Both had to work to pay, life choices. Atb j
  10. Just a reminder: Batteries not included ... It is Christmas day today, And all are full of cheer, But I lay freezing on the step, I always sleep right here. I never get to go inside, And join in all the fun, I'm what they call a yard dog, When all is said and done. They have given me some scraps, I think it was last week, Now laying in the snow today, I am feeling tired and weak. I can hear the children playing, As my head lay on my paws, This time just last year, I was a gift from Santa Claus. I don't know what I did wrong, To be shut out in the yard, I o

  12. A very good, young doctor told me, that their not there to cure the illness, but to just to keep you alive. It's all money driven she said. I know of a number of cases of where there's been malpractice, negligence, cost the lives of two very young family members, 27, 30 Also where they just throw antidepressants at any illness now like Smarties, again seen this first hand, where the person was suffering from cancer, and they put it down to stress. It's frightening the way the health system is run. Better off going to a vet, at least you'd be seen quicker. I really don't t

  15. That's just my point of view on the matter as an irish man, and rightly so imo, same I wasn't/ don't want to turn this into a irish vers English rubbish tread, the whole of the British isles has a bigger, problem on its door step. Atb j
  16. It won't, if the government look to it's country and its own. Hopefully for the UKs sake that's what will happen Atb j
  17. The thing that really bothered me about Sinn Fein was/is, their always on about removing the British rule out of N.I. and uniting the country, which I fully agree with, and should and will be done someday, (that for another topic), but they turn around and want to bring in 20,000 migrants form the middle East. To me that's bloody scandalous, and toatly crazy. Atb j
  18. Do you honestly believe any of the government parties, Ireland/UK, want to, or are willing to stop this mass migration ?. Personally I don't think so. It's going to take a stand alone party, with the backing of the vast majority of the people to do this, but that's not going to happen, ( in my life time anyways), because they would be seen as to far right winged, and today's people that are been led by the nose, sheep, don't want that, Atb j
  19. Ireland: As predicted, the amnesty schemes are starting...expect more. ? - Scheme being considered to give 17,000 undocumented migrants residency rights. The new scheme is expected to be a much broader scheme to offer residency to undocumented migrants and their children long-term in the State. * From Italy to Portugal, expect more to follow across the EU as the excuses for not deporting will continue to multiply. As we have said before, if the illegals are not being deported out of Europe in great numbers (and they are not), it will ultimately lead to numerous amnesty initiatives
