Just watching the above programme and it makes you realise what an incredible and difficult job the security services have to do. It also shows how America still pulls the strings over our government with their world wide web of contacts and agents.

Liars or am I doing something wrong?

None of it matters unless you worry about it. At the end of the day who gives a duck. Just agree to differ! -
.22lr or fac airrifle for hunting small vermin?
tegater replied to Leamo's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
I read this post and laughed my head off Paulus. I thought you must have had a big smile on your face, with the other thread that is going on!! -
I tried this one in an old mill/foundry my way a couple of years ago. It didnt turn out quite how I thought, but I kept the image anyway.

They may not be lying pal, the PCP's are bloody good for reasons previously mentioned. Have a look at this guy shooting his 32ft lb at 200m. Admittedly again he is target shooting in absolutly ideal conditions. -

The funny thing with this one, is that some of those fac air rifles are capable of some amazing stuff. -
Usually a bit later in the year. You could try PM dead horse and donkey dealer.

We all know 100 is ok with the .22rf in ideal conditions on the range, but this guy does not even rest his right elbow on the rock to shoot, unless my eyes are decieving me. Cameras are very clever things though and its amazing what they have you believe. I am not saying it cant be done because I know it can, but targets and live quarry, are different, because it doesnt matter if you pull a shot on a target. The point I am trying to make is that although I can put down tight groups with various different rifles at long range, that alone doesnt make it suitable for vermin shooting at that d -
As above bud, but I dont usually start properly until mid September.

Probably going to have to go to vets with this one, but thought I would ask around first for any help/advice. One of my young jills from last year, has developed a very wet and rattling sounding cough, almost like it has fluid in its windpipe. It also looks slightly thinner but that might just be due to loosing its winter coat. Any ideas please or has anybody experienced the same thing. Thanks.

Could be a whole host of things, from disease, ground vermin, winged vermin and just plain old weather/atmospheric conditions. etc Some days around me I wont see many and then other days they are everywhere. I am sure it is the same most places over. However if you are never seeing many, then that is not good.

Nice. We are forecasted a gale tomorrow!

It comes down to shooting for sport or shooting for vermin control again. Rabbits are not too big a problem my way because of the terrain, with most problems coming from forestry, paddocks or large private gardens. Although I shoot quite a few rabbits I generally only shoot them for the pot, for the ferrets, for somebody else's pot, for bait or to order. Unlike foxes I shoot, rabbits to me are generally sport shooting, hence the reason I will not abuse them. Another reason of course, is that I love my ferreting. When I was a kid, I was always brought up never to shoot the first thi

thanks mate. to be honest mate i have never measured it in inches so i am not to sure. what i did was shoot loads of rounds at targets from 20 - 190 yards. for 3 months writing down where each bullet hit at different ranges all the time. like mapping the trajectory. i then put it all into a graph and made a table and stuck the table to my rifle but. now when i see the spot i want to hit i measure the distance with a range finder then looked on the table to see the aim point and without changing my 50y zero i use the mill dots down from centre. usually shooting at 10x my scope recital i -

Why the concern about foxes. What about the squirrel with young, the woodie with squabs, the rabbits with kits, the crow, the magpie the jay, all with young. There is to me absolutley no difference in the ethics of shooting them. If you say you shoot for "sport" then perhaps you should bring in your own close season, and abide by it. As I previously stated there are areas of this country where there is no choice in the matter. As to the numbers of foxes getting shot and trapped and wired, year on year my numbers are generally increasing, and that can only be happening if there is a hea

Easier said than done in my house I have just laid the concrete base for a 10' x 4' kennel and run for our new Patterdale pup. Admitedly I would have liked a slightly bigger one, and it probably wouldnt be big enough for a large lurcher. Still, its better than just chaining it up outside to a wooden barrel, which is what I was initially going to do. The wife wants to fit heating!!

Where I shoot on the hill farms up north on the pennines, foxes get no favours. Like it or not a vixen with cubs, is a vixen that has to kill to feed. (and yes I know a lot of what they eat is small animals and carrion) A hungry fox will and do, take weak new born lambs, and will also hammer the grouse nests, and many other things. In the arable parts of the country you might have the choice to be selective, but where livelihoods depend upon as many lambs surviving as possible then you don't. I don't shoot foxes for "sport" I do it for necessity and the wish of the farmers.

Good work and looks neat. I saw your knife sheath the other day that looked good aswell.
