  1. Cheers for the comments lads! yeah, yeah yeah, I know I need a dog, but unfortunatly my misses dont want one at the minute, and trust me, there is no arguing with her. Kids would love one as well, but she got upset after the last one, and its more than my lifes worth if I just brought one home
  2. Nice looking dog and rabbits in the bag! Can,t be bad!
  3. Shame for the dog it looks well keen and switched on. I've had a few days recently were the rabbits just haven't been there in the usual numbers!
  4. 3 nice looking bunnies there! (not in a sexual way of course!!)
  5. Sounds like you had to work hard to catch. Some of our bunnies up here only live in the dry stone walls, and I mean in them, not under them, so that can be challenging netting up, similar to your farmyard set up. Good read.

    Wales

I'm away with work at the minute staying in a lovely part of Wales not far from Denbigh (or something similar to that in Welsh). Now having been to Wales many time as a kid and staying on a caravan site near Machynlleth, and since then only really going to the North east coast of Wales, I had forgotten what a beautiful place it actually is. Very much my ideal sort of hunting grounds. There seems to be plenty of woodies and corvids of all descriptions about, looks great for foxes, and it nice to see in the distance at least one well maintained grouse moor. To cap it all there are a coup
  7. You say that mate but I came home from work today and my hob was dragging my Jill round the hutch she didnt look to happy about the whole thing. My misses doesnt look to happy about the whole thing, when I drag her around the bedroom so that means nothing
  8. As hegaross, I use rebar and cut a short length off, and get a mate to weld it together.
  9. Pictures speak a 1000 words mate, looked like you had a cracking day! Nice ground too!
  10. After having had a few ferreting trips out with the lads and the ferrets over the last couple of months, which have only produced a handful of rabbits each time, I thought I would go back to my favourite warren and have a good few hours of action. The lads are now only 10 (going on 11) and 8, and like all lads, they need to see action. The youngest isn’t quite as interested as the eldest one, but was still keen to come. H the eldest has been badgering me for ages to do all the nets himself, so with the weather being ok, the ground damp and only a little wind, I decided today was the day. I
  11. Shooting straight into a strong wind on a level field then the affects are negligable, howevever shooting long range rifle downhill and the affect is that the bullets poi can be lower because of the angle of the trajectory has changed in relation to the wind direction. The opposite can occur if shooting at an angle into a strong wind angled up. (Dont get this confused with the affects of just shooting on an angle) Over long range head on into a wind, the increased drag will cause the change of POI, very slightly. Any external influence such as wind, must have an affect on the traje
  12. just do it. Great catching with your own nets. You can then chuck those rubbish bisley nets in the bin, or give them away!
  13. Apparently they don't like issuing any Center Fire Rifle to first time applicants, however if they can't find a reasonable cause to refuse then they ask you to provide details of a person who has an Open Ticket with a rifle of the same caliber who can supervise you for a set number of outings on your land, after which time you can apply to have the supervision order removed. In my case I was able to prove to them that I had vast experience with a wide range of calibers between .17 and 120mm. In their opinion someone who has been trained in the safe use of Firearms is going to be far safer th
  14. All rifles usually still have powder burn. None of it will be down to the barrel length. Have you had the trigger kit fitted because this make a big improvement. The wind should still allow it to group, but the mpi, will obviously shift if left uncorrected. Obviously you can rule out wind by testing on a rare still day. What's it like at 50m, are you only getting 1.5" groups, or is it better at this range, in which case it may be you at distance. The 452 16" is an incredibly accurate barrel for the money. Have you got another good shot to try it out, straight after you
  15. Ask the boys who might need this sort of s*it, what they think of Bear. Who do you think pays some of Ray's wages!
  16. Am I missing something here? You haven't put any pics up.........
  17. I'm very similar in that I have never lost a ferret so far, but as a kid I spent hours someday just waiting and hoping. Sometimes I used a liner, but mostly, just the wait. Locaters...............invaluable!
  18. Romany. I have a Johnny Stewart predator call I occasionally use, when I need to place the call away from me. If there are brown owls about they go mad for it, and sometimes circle around it only a few feet away. The bog owls will come to it as well as little owls but they dont seem quite as interested. It only seems to pull in the boggies in the spring/summer.
  19. Oh how very interesting! Now that along with her latest comments really does show her up for what she is!
