  1. No likes left, but a lot of arguments on freedom on this site surround hunting laws, obvious given its a hunting site ..but like you say that affects a tiny proportion of the populate, I'm not sure how many of the people shouting about Russia good UK bad would really like to live there... I'd hazard a guess you've been closer to the border with Russia and for the most sustained time of anyone on here... would you want to live there?
  2. Absolute master of his trade mate, hes safe because his knowledge far surpasses anyone of his time... I love old fashioned tradesman, it's effortless..
  3. Western leaders are shithouses and don't give a f**k for the common man, that has been proven time and again...but to suggest the multi billionaire Putin cares for his people anymore is ridiculous, he's amassed a fortune that no western leader can get near, he's done it by raping the mass resource that Russia boasts and his people can't call foul play or they aren't seen again...is the average Russian truly better off than your average English man or American?
  4. The problem is mate over the years I've noticed the level of basic common sense drop, young lads see the building trade as a poor third choice of career now..the majority if they can't get to uni want to be an influencer or gamer or whatever else... being a brickie, or plasterer, roofer etc is looked down on... so basically they don't give a f**k, and are only there to pick up a wage...honestly they walk around with a phone stuck in there hand constantly, just last week I was watching a labourer knocking a brick wall down, I was measuring on a cherry picker and could see him over the wall...he
  5. You work at extreme heights mate, regular training and safety awareness is a necessity in your type of work, like you say its easily forgotten then you and others are at risk...
  6. Not quite mate...minimising deaths'and serious injury from falling at height.. as opposed to "get up there or aren't you man enough" is surely a good thing? I do however call out the bullshit around it at every opportunity, I've fell twice and been very lucky..once off a ladder when a crane hanging a 2t steel caught and the steel dropped a foot knocking my ladder, I jumped, off and hit the deck. I shit myself! LOL..Last day on a job in Watford and wanted to get out of the dive and so did the crane driver...couple of small mistakes, rushing really, and nearly done me... Other time, I'
  7. The ladders are contained inside of the scaffold tower though mate, so you have handrails around you...you not allowed to put a ladder up to the outside of a scaff tower.. Also the working at heights course teaches you how to safely use a ladder, it seems over kill, but the amount of times you see someone with the ladder on a stupid angle, not tied off etc it makes you think about lack of common sense more than anything... I guess the bottom line is, falling from heights is/was the biggest killer in the building game, sensible safety approach to it is a good thing...
  8. pretty much why I won't go near the big Main contractors or major works, I'm all for sensible H&S, We've employed hundreds of lads of the years, and had no major incidents and no fatalities, a firm down the road (more agricultural) has had 2 fatalities in the last 12 years plus my brothers, brother in law (who left us to work with them) fell 30ft through a roof light, god knows how he lived but he did and he's fine.... they take the "Fred Dibnha" approach to safety, no scaffold, no nets, cut costs and kill lads, "get up there lads, what are you a chicken!!"... nah not for me, I'd rather ma
  9. Mum done me a goat curry last week, was bloody lovely, her best friend when we lived in Bristol was Jamaican and we ate a lot of Caribbean food, she still cooks some of the recipes, goat curry is one of my favourites though.
  10. I've stuck my fingers in a few other pies in the last 10 years or so, but for 25 years since we first set up on our own the building game has been good to us, in the main... its certainly not for everyone, and I've seen it from pretty much every side (labourer to running a half decent sized firm), it's smaller now, manageable, maybe even enjoyable again! Lol... we don't chase work, haven't advertised for years, and are fully booked for 12 months, I don't have sleepless nights about it anymore, but I've had plenty over the years!
  11. Great pic... I came on the end of those days, 95/96 I think? safety changed it all really...but in the main for the better in our game..
  12. When I first got up on steel I was 19 and the bloke I worked for had me and my brother (completely inexperienced) climbing the steels, no cherry pickers, holding onto crane chains to support yourself, 40ft up and nothing to stop you falling, not even a harness ffs.. rather than put scaffold around for roofing we'd tack weld angles on the columns and put youngman boards on... one job was a new barn, tight farmer wanted his old asbestos sheets re used, so we're up there with no safety nets, walking old asbestos (brittle as hell) and cutting it with no masks etc... this is nearly 30 years ago... I
  13. At the end of the day the facts are, Fury won the titles in 2015, since then he's fought one other champion...Wilder 3 times...so in 9 years (I'm purposely forgetting his time out for drugs etc) he's fought one champion, 3 times... In that time it's been Chisora (again!!), Wallin, Naganu, whyte and a few bin men and a window cleaner... but we're supposed to buy into his resume is great, he'll fight anyone, no one like him, he'd beat any heavy from any era etc... its been a waste of time for nearly 10 years cause the fights that mattered aren't made...its almost over...no chance is there
  14. Agree mate, that was my point on making the rules clear.. the hand ball in the box and offside rules, coupled with Var is ruining the game, common sense is gone....if some one knows they'll be sin binned for 10 minutes for a clinical foul its a bigger deterent than a yellow so could improve some parts of the game.... all that being said, I'd take away VAR and the new offside/handball rules, keep goaline tech and go back a few steps.. so perhaps I shouldn't be for it! Lol
  15. Just read that mate... I think it could be a good thing as long as the rules are clear...
  16. NEWKID

    No Celts....

    Tiverton that mate... and Plymouth..lol
  17. I can't remember what pro said it but they were talking about Foden being the best they'd seen taking the ball on the half turn, it's a valid point, he's a different type of player to De Bruyne, but yeah is another top class player..City are full of them mate, you wouldn't swap many of them for another clubs starting 11... England have got to win something with this bunch, it's better than the so called golden era imo
  18. I'm not sure if "being on the same wavelength" is what makes Rice/Odegard partnership work so well, undoubtedly they compliment each other very well, I think Rice does all.the simple work brilliantly and then some... Odegard knows he can operate in that hole and Rice protects him... but Rice is more than just a holding midfielder, I'm seriously impressed with him mate, he's better than I thought to be honest...to step up into bone fide title challengers and it's seamless...he'll only get better and like you sat that partnership is developing all the time.. Jesus does everything well apart
  19. My reply was a bit tongue in cheek mate..it hasn't put the training camp or Fury in the best light ..
  20. I think we've yapped on here before about young Tzsu mate, I agree I think he'll beat Thurman... looks good don't he..
  21. It's a great partnership, Odegard has turned into some player hasn't he...De Bruyne is the best in that role imo, and I think Bruno at UTD is a great playmaker.. bit Odegard is the closest for me to De Bruyne...he needs a Rice though, Rice does everything very very well, you struggle to find a weakness...top midfielder.. England have some real talent now, with him and Belingham that must be the best midfield pairing in Europe currently?
  22. Got ya.. probably an avoidable accident then...
  23. Good points mate...it seemed very natural to Naz, that was hid style completely... where as, as you say, whitaker is gaining nothing from it and perhaps even detracting from his ability... its early days for him, and the comparisons to Naz are only because he's showy, he's got a bloody long way to go until that comparison means anything
