    BRETT LEE

R.I.P Brett lee- definitely a breed shaper i.m.o and a freak of nature on the track, have a couple of granddaughters of him here-lets hope they take after him.
  2. to guys who have got the book already,is there much about wHeatans and Glen of imaals in it ?

    hondo black

96 races ,22 wins, 2824 offspring, cant see anything special there. they race over a lot longer distance in the states-if you check the comments on his raceform-he was passed in the home straight a lot after leading the whole way-i.e suitable for shorter irish and english races-throws good honest pups from what ive heard and clicks well with top honcho bitches
  5. I put almost the same question on here a few months back.Good luck, they are nearly extinct.Theres a bitch running at peterborough thats off them bloodlines-i emailed them about getting the owners details a few months but they never got back to me.LEEVIEW off here seems to know a bit about these dogs so he could be a good person to ask.
  6. id say that once vital genes are lost from breeds that there is no way of getting them back without crossing to breeds that do work. Then again i once saw a yorkie that worked fox with great enthuasism and a wire fox terrier that would have held his own anywhere as a worker
  7. its strange what back breeding can come out sometimes ,could have been beagle in the bitchs line years ago
  8. yeah they look the buisness allright-a physically sound mastiff type.would you think they are as intelligent as they say they are.
  9. why,too noisy? ive already got dogs for bushing (8yr parson type + hound x jrt pup for next year to assist + eventually replace the old bitch) and prefer patts for going to ground. dont have enough work for plummers round here, what is it beagle/jrt or some other kind of hound? i had them when i was a young fellow-good old bushing dogs-last one died only last year-mine wouldnt go to ground although littermates and cousins of the same breeding did..>I have a theory on plummers that are afraid of the dark-maybe its the backbreeding from the beagle in them coming through-although
  10. would you fight me for a dog......just messing, best of luck

  13. He is not a late starter by his own "fault", he only didn't get the chance until now. But he did use his chance very nicely! YIS yes and no cuz the first 3 years he just run over the set's and payed no intention to enter it what kind of terrier is he ,a jagd?
  14. absoloutly smashing terriers there Dingle
  15. the type of russels i use, and have used were local, its what was used here before the black stuff became fashionable, its what i started of with and stuck to it,old habits die hard,i have also kept blacks and still do,i have no personal preferance of size, shape or colour as long as it does an honest days graft, and have been lucky enough to have seen some good terriers doing there thing over the years, and some of the better ones were never much to look at,but would have a place in my yard any day, is this the dog you are on about smasher ,looks a good strong little dog-what part of the
  16. right there Neil. Its a pity that the working of these dogs is consigned to history due to stupid laws etc.I wouldnt know anything about the early origins of the wheaten ,Glen ,kerry blue etc . but id imagine it took hundreds of years to get them to where they were in the 60s ,70s etc.Would you think the working wheaten of today is a shadow of what it was? (not a loaded question) .Its going back to when i was a child the last time i saw a proper wheaten(i.e not a small old english sheepdog type show dog).
  17. how many plummers have you owned?granted ive seen the odd better" jack RUSSELL" BUT nose wise most dont come near a plummer

  21. smashing head on that dog there poacher, pity you lost him so young, how was he bred? Heres a pic of my plummer x pitbull -kind of a bull/russell
  22. hi carraghsgem,i heard that as well and thought it was only a tall tale,.The good old green party again -practical as ever..I wonder how they think its going to be done..probably they think the badger is an endangered species(im hunting the same fields since i was 8 or nine years of age and can never remember as many about)
  23. run him on a long check cord for a while and when he starts to chase give it a good tug and turn him over ,run over to where he is ,carry him by the scruff of the neck back to where he started chasing(giving him a shake now and again,) and make him stay there.THis lesson might have to be repeated several times depending on how headstrong the dog is
