  1. Anyone got any pics of any of there venison dogs and there trophys ( ALL PRE BAN OFC) as the history of it interests me. What breeding were they ? what size ? what sex ? Also feel free to add your pot fillers in here, love the thought of a good lurcher putting some food on the table I have land on it which has Fallow Deer but I shall be going after them with my 243 when they come into season, long as the Police hurry up and get my FAC back to me with deer added on like I asked
  2. Why do you make this assumption ? A dog in a kennel can get upto no mischief, pretty much all the people I know that take there dog work seriously kennel there dogs. It avoids alot of problems brought on in the house. Also what reason do you choose a cocker spaniel ? There very active dogs and personally from experience I don't like having spaniels in the house, they want to be on the go all the time and if bored seem to get into alot of mischief lol. Chewing stuff, getting into all sort. These dogs are bred to hunt hard, they will hunt and upturn every inch of your house if there any goo
  3. Anyone have one of these dogs ? Was in this weeks Country Man's weekly. Seems like a nice lil cross. What would be the advantage/disadvantage between this and a collie/whippet x greyhound ? When/if I get a lurcher this is what I was looking at getting, just mainly a dog for rabbits
  4. What type of wild fowling will you be doing ? I was looking at guns the other day, some real nice ones, I saw a Benelli Super Nova, Pump Action shotgun, tons cheaper than a semi auto and was lovely to handle. Very tempted but I looking to join a wildfowling club on the coast so was told to avoid them as they can jam up from mud.
  5. I myself have spoken on the phone to there club secretary earlier. Was a nice guy, sent in my details and hopefully be going along next season
  6. Where do you live mate ? I think there is a club in Cardiff, If you get any luck let me know Im also interested!
  7. I'm near the coast! I live in Kenfig in South Wales. The area I'm thinking of is a massive disused quarry, it has a sort of bay on one side and about 100 yards away a bay that has no access by foot (you have to swim to it, could be good for nesting and putting a feeder or 2 on) Just need to find who owns it! Its not used in anyway and I know people used to go up there in the summer and swim in it! Its very deep and a very large area with 90percent of the sides steep and rising up high. If I could get something down there it could be class
  8. Firstly who did you approach to get permission to shoot on there mate ? And also did you just feed it and ducks showed up ? How do the ducks know to come there ? Lol Incase you can't tell I'm not the most experienced
  9. Does anyone do any duck shooting in old quarrys ? I know a few and they have huge pools of water, if you were to feed them would they bring in the ducks ? The one I'm thinking has a bay on one side aswell with a gentle slope into the water and you could also put a feed raft in
  10. I know of a dog that out ran coursing dogs down in England, belonged to my mate, it was a top dog but because it also won awards and such people slate it as a "show pony", After beating the boys in the coursing club my mate was never invited back to run his dog again so hardly got the chance to prove what he could do
  11. Best ring up your FEO mate and tell them what you want to do, then they will tell you what you need to do and send you the right forms!
  12. I wouldnt say wanting one for subs and one for HV rounds is a good reason for wanting 2 22.LRS , Although lots of people have more than one, just ask them for 2 on your ticket, I wouldnt use that reason though. In know some people have 2 because they have 1 in Bolt action and 1 semi auto. I dont see why you wouldnt just use the 17HMR when you would use the 22 with HVs ? Surely the 17 would be better? Also if you had done a 1for1 variation at the time of sales of the other guns you would of got slots for them again for free , because you left it now you will have to pay the variat
  13. get some pictures up boyo
  14. cheers lads not too bothered about fox more edible quarry!
  15. whats this cross like ? Just wondering. Would they only be good on large flat land ? What would they be like as an all rounder for all quarry ?
  16. Would a saluki/grey x colie/grey be a good all rounder ? namely for use on rabbit, hare fox and fallow deer ? pre ban ofcourse. I dont have a lurcher but wondered what this corss would be like
  17. a cross breed will make the prics if it is doing the job it supposed to for the person working it. it's not going to make the price of competion breeding but for the rough shooting person or beating up, it should make the price of other dogs in the same category. no it wouldn't. If I wanted a dog for rough shooting and one was this cross the other a trained spaniel with papers and such both costing the same then without a doubt would pick the spaniel. As said, wont be worth much more than a pup, even dogs with papers and are fully trained dont make there owners a profit when t
  18. Sounds like shes getting a good feeding mate from what you say Id just keep her on that
  19. If that was her condition when fully grown Id say she looks stunning, I wouldn't even say she looks skinny mate but since shes jus a pup n has alot of growning to do Id personally try n fatten her up just a little more I like to give pups things like, Rice Pudding and Tripe, mine have all done well on this ps whats the breeding like ?
  20. http://www.arielskennels.com/male_vs_female.htm I have two bitches, a lab and a springer. the lab is stubborn, marks territory and if given an inch takes a mile, and sometimes is infuriating. The springer was much more timid dog when she was a pup, afraid of everything, now listens better than the labrador to commands and is quicker to react to them. The lab is better trained though. Also depends if you want to be going through with all the trouble of there seasons. I would have got dogs but my mother would only have bitches so that settled it.
  21. Quite simple, there are a lot of antis in the Welsh Assembly, mostly women in senior positions, so if the Welsh Assembly get the powers to make there owm laws, goodbye hunting in Wales. Thanks for that mate.
