  6. i think the nets are out tonight:)

  7. Smithie, do you angle your nets away from the oncoming rabbits? Most traditional netters do, and the reason for the angle is to allow more net to lay on the floor before the rabbits hit the wall of netting, thereby increasing the chances of the rabbits claws catching in the netting. Even when walked slow not every rabbit hops up to the net, but most do. i always angle my pegs away from the rabbits and its not something i think about it has become the norm and how it just happens. i also dont normaly tail a net as most drops are the width of the field and the fields are small gr
  8. do you think they catch better when hopped into the net TC? rather than bolting? i was out last night and had 7 in 2 drops from a 50m net but i say 2 run at the net at full tilt when i got down to where they should have been they were not in? i think maybe they "cartwheel"over it or something like that if you get my drift! might be better to hop in i dont know but i do find some hitting the net at speed not only get the head through the mesh but spin over the top line and get tangled a little more, them this makes it harder to get them out sometimes im talking trad net as t

  15. i know very little about dogs and training them, but im not suprised you have seen only 1 and i imagine training a dog to run around the bunnys (like a sheep dog) on a visual command in the dark and walk the field silent with out giving up to the erge to chase and kill is something not easily achived. and way beyond any tallent i shall ever have then some people would also need a dog for more than 1 job. somebody netting at night might wish to lamp, ferret or even rat with the dog this would make an alrounder i think and less efficant at some jobs for it
  16. my opinion is you are ferreting not long netting.. ferreting with the aid of longnets if there fixed and run from a basket then ferreting with the aid of quicket nets. i have seen the odd post with a dog mentioned for chasing the rabbits in when long netting at night. for me this would be a long netting dog. i think if there is a man with a good long net dog it would command big money. for a dog to get around the back of the rabbits and cross the field from left to right and back again etc until it reaches the net would take some training and would be a netting dog solo netters dre

  19. i think the dogs are used ferreting with the aid of a longnet/quickset. i dont think they will be many dogs for night time long netting
