  1. I know this sounds daft but has anyone tried a rabbit skin on a R/C car, you know one of the smaller type, then if Charlie dont show up you got something to play with
  2. Yep, Its like most waters it has its moments, the best places there are the synicate waters,,, but to get on there take your 308 and dig in ,,, its members only, one or two of the smaller waters fish well but mainlt mixed small stuff. A better water is Sommers at Stone bridge ( they have a web site ) and you can drive to most pegs,, however no pike, but head of carp, tench, bream, roach oh yeh and crayfish, any bait works there but corn and pellet are tops. i alway float fish corn for the tench or a small bomb if im after the carp. ONE TIP,,,,,,,, They are at your feet fish the margins a
  3. Very true words Mr Shoughton, ive been both sides of the fence and when your a loose cannon its very hard to get your foot in the door, thank God for a couple of good mates. £50 a day for live shooting ,,,,, well ask yourself this " What would a day at clays cost you" a tadd more i think
  4. Welcome fellow Brummie. Which part mate im in Castle Bromwich
  5. Hi Matt, lol just dropped my BSA with a Nikko on top ,,,, bent the tube at the eye piece end. Just wondered if you found a repairer or not as i need mine fixing too
  6. You need to make a tool its basicly a bar that slides in a tube,, Tube is a close fit to the case and the bar has to be 4x the wall thickness of the case less in dia you statr the crimp by hand then finish with the tool,,, however its a better and easier job with a press i use a MEC Junior it has a built in crimper
  7. I use Fiocchi 3" 6shot for anything up to 30 yds ( cos its a crimp closure so easy to reload ),and eley 21/2" 7 for clays mine is bored 1/4-1/2. This may help a little i find mine gives a string of shot rather than a cloud with the 3" I think this is down to the longer shot colume in the case, i just lead things a foot more and all seems ok, its not so noticeable on the 2 1/2 case so i shoot those as i would the 12 bore
  8. Had my mine 8 months now, only down side ive found is as mentioned before the side button to unlock the feed ramp..... but this is so with many other autos,,,,, best i ever had was a Remington 1100 the button on that was part of the feed ramp and as you push a cartridge against the release button the ramp opens,,, much faster to load.. but having said that the Hatsan is 1/3 of the price. I have to shooting mayes that both had Berettas,,,, they now have Hatsans. As for the "O" ring problem its easy to fix, when cleaning the gun be sure you get all the muck off the mag tub , then on rebui
  9. Hi Steve, Welcome, Many years ago when i was a lad ( gawd that was a long time ago ) It was alway good for rabbits behind the sea wall at Kimnel Bay ( just out side Rhyl ) the old railway tracks, dont know who has the land now its been 40 years but might be worth a look
  10. pigeons wont waste energy flying around in bad weather they find food and stay close by, but they do have to feed and drink, in realy cold weather you can often pick up a few by sitting it out at a spot that has water and not ice,,, small brook, animal truffs, anywhere they can drink
  11. Best way mate the only Millitary cases i ever did any good with were the 9mm and the 303 the rest were just too much trouble
  12. This time of year a sitty tree is the place, dont sit under it but a few yards away ( makes the shot easier and you can see all the tree )
  13. PS, You can reload BURDAN cases but you may have problems with primers ,,,, they are not the same sizes as the normal BOXER,,, only one i know of that may fit is the BURDAN No 69 its the same diameter as BOXER small pistol/rifle, ,,,,,,,,,, but "CHECK" check hight of primer to they do differ
  14. Sounds to me like they are BURDAN primers not the usual BOXER, If this is the case youll need an hydrolic decaper, easy to make and work well. There use to one on the market called a Wamadet i think i used to use one to decap millitary 9mm ( the old 2Z ) as for the sealer , take a close look they may have a ring crimp to seal if so not a prob just run a sharp knife around the inner edge that will remove the crimp. Hope that helps
  15. Well its just my opinion,, but take the yanks, from day one they have had to live off their rifles and what shotty do they choose,,,,,,,,,,, O/U,, ok ok John Wayne liked Greeners.
  16. Well Paul your mate is a member of the "Covern" and practices the dark art of "Sidebeside".. You have to roll up your trouser legs lift your left foot and chate the magic words, then youll be a covern member and youll look rather daft hehehe only joking make,,, each to their own, ive found most rifle shooters prefer the o/u i think its the single sighting plain,,, more rifle like
  17. Hello Airbourne, Well all of these type of decoy have their day, ive seen them work for me and against me, you cant beat a good flightline and lack of movment in this weather
  18. But for the LOCAL sport 25" Rem1100 3" Mag throwing slug and LG lol lol lol
  19. As stubby said, go look for droppings, having found the roost tree "dont" sit under it, youll cut down your angels of fire and get a stiff neck,,,,,,,, sit under another tree thats close by where you can see the area of droppings, this way you dont have to shoot through the branches and twigs and youll be able to see them coming to the roost from most directions, Now the big one " KEEP STILL " Pigeons can spot movement from a long way off, Ghillie suits, yes they work but so does a good net and no movement. Now on the day you want to shoot get in early, morning or evening,,,,, you dont wa
  20. Must agree with Sir Stubby, dead is best, best bit of kit i have are my craddles, do a good job with both dead pigeon and crow, if you must spend on gadgets get a flapper ( with a dead on board )
  21. I use a 28" S/S Cogswell for game and clay,,, bored imp/1/4 great skeet gun,,, but the barrels warm up a bit lol
  22. I know its a bit late but ,,,,, You wont decoy in big numbers but will pull a few ,, best way is to find a flightline best if its going to stubble. if theres a large tree on the line thats where to net up,,, now set out your stall as normal ( here a rotory will help, set it bewteen you and the decoys but about 20yards to one side) the plan being to catch them going to feed or returning to rest, you may even pull a few into your tree so a lofter would help,,,,,,,,, A better plan is use your eyes look for the roost they are useing and sit there and wait, catch them as they come home
  23. Thanks Steve, Ill give Richy a shout, im not the greatest of trainers so any and all help is gretefuly received time for at bit of back to basics mate get out with the dummy just you and the dog. get the dog to sit and throw the dummy keep the dog sitting and pick the dummy youself do this a good few time sound like the young un have just been throwing the dummy/ ball watever repeatedly as soon as he brings it back and not making him wait for the retreive command. and dont take the 2 out together. try asking rickyspiringer on here for some advice as he is the spaniel man. in future if the
  24. Keeping sprats on the trace is easy,,,, string them up the day before then freeze them, a small box lined with polystyrene tiles keeps them frozen all day
