    Drill down the centre of the mount and tap a thread into it,,,, now mount and zero the scope when your happy with it remove the scope ( not the mounts) now with a pionted grub screw screw down into the hole you drilled and tapped. tighten till you feel the base plate, then 1/4 turn more , this will mark the hole centres,,,, now remove the mounts and centre pop the marks, drill the base plate with a 1/16 / 1.5mm drill about 2 mm deep, then countersink the hole by hand just enough to give a lead, refit mounts loosely and feel for the holes then retighten the mounts screw in the grub screws an

    Assuming your pushing lead down the tube, id go for 1/2 ( mod ), 3/4 and full with that load will deform the outer pellets so giving you a high percentage of fliers, best thing is have a bash on a pattern plate and see what you get,,,,,, 00buck sounds like your after Charlie,,,,, at 30 yards id use Alphamax in BB, BB has the power to kill a fox out to 50yds plus you got a far better pattern, with the BB id use full or 3/4 . the secret to shotguns isnt to push as much lead down the tube as you can ,,,,, its pattern that does the job, a good even pattern of BB at 40 yards is a more consistant k

    Well IMO i dont see a prob with the rifle its gona be firing a bullet 9g lighter than standard with a reduced load to bring it back to the fps of the 174g ,,,,, the reason for the 308 barrel is bullet availability,,,,,, have you tried to get 7.7 FMJ,, i promise you its not easy,,, but 308/7.62 gives a whole load of useable bullets, the second reason is i can match bullet/twist/ to give best performance. So over all what im buliding is a reduced British 303 thats cheaper to load, the problem is what do i call it ,,, i know it will slug at 308 but a future owner may not ,,,,, so do i just ig

    Ive been a panelbeater for 40years and now have tinatus,,, no matter what i wear to shoot any c/f starts my bells ringing,,, c/f plus good moderater and no ear protection ,,,, no bells ,,,,,,,,, for me the mods have it, but some plugs can only help,,, most of my problems come from the gun next to me not my own ( trap shooting, or standing the line)

    Bill, your right i use mine when sitting under a flightline or at roost they DO work and no net to carry. One mod i had done was to put the face vail on valcro, it gets in the way a bit with the shotty,,, so on pigeon days no vail

    Same pig suit as mine, they do work well, however movement is the key, having said that they do snag a little, but not a prob you can improve them,,, now dont laff,,, comb it gently get the luggs out then the snagging isnt such a prob, weathering is good too, even stomp it in a few muddy puddles, dont wash but comb again when dry,,, as for the new smell i have a trick that works well works for foxes too,,,,,, i let my grandkids use it for bedding in their rabbit hutch, couple of days is all you need ,,,, storage keep it in a plastic bag ,, one more thing you need to add elastic strips so you c

    For while now ive been thinking about a wildcat, the old Enfield is getting harder to feed, so i did a little research into 303 barrels. As standard they range from .309 to .314, now the way i see it .309 is oh so close to .308. so if i rebarrel at .308 and chamber for brit 303 i get the full range of 30cal bullets to load, now a 165g 308 aint worlds away from the 303s 174g so ballistics should be in the same ball park... and T4 target rifles are just a No4 enfield barreled and chambered for 7.62 so action is strong enough... BUT ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Would i need to rename the cal as say 303/
