  1. Kin el b g, you can talk sense! lol. Nah seriously though, you've made a couple of good points there, as have a few others. I myself have had to slow things down by quite a bit due to a couple of bad injuries which will be with me permanently, and also with the ban etc things are very different to what they were in the 70's and 80's. And not being far off your age the desire to go fecking about for miles for a bagful of rabbits, as per ban, aint happening, so got to be, sorry, had to be, extra careful if you wanted to catch other stuff. As with all politics, this government has f****d thing
  2. @ the last few posts. Well at least B G has made us laugh
  3. A Vet from Nam maybe? Purple heart..pppp, pppppp purple heart..He wasn't really sure wasn't really going on... The average mental age of a combat rouge poacher was .....nnnnnnn nine years,..... nnnnnnnnnnn nine years Flashbacks? Helicopters? Polar bears? Mermaids? Dik diks?Maluki's? Lol I remember when that track came out, by paul hardcastle. I was living in a caravan and I was indeed N N N N NINETEEN, and it was N N N N NINETEEN EIGHTY FOUR!! well remembered j d
  4. Only if it's crossed with a malamute!
  5. Seriously though B G, none of the dogs you want to breed/create are gonna be exactly 'hot' rabbit dogs, and there are MUCH BETTER types around, and have been for years, for all other quarry. We can't legally hunt what we used to anyway, and to say that any GSD X or MAL X is better at catching hares than a 'proper' hare dog is plain and utter complete bollocks, don't care if the ground is hard, soft, sticky or polished f***ing steel! And preban I've owned a few dogs that were 26" tts and less and weren't heavily built or had the power of king kong, take deer very regularly. You are talking com
  6. Could be a Box Office hit.... "The Malumute that Time Forgot"....where a malumute is spiked by a radio-active Dik-dik and is sent spiralling back through time to the jurrassic era, where we see it smash a wide variety of dinosaurs...... J D, you need to get that pen working while your mind is still fresh with these fanciful ideas lol, and put me down for a signed copy! lol
  7. Well mate, you carry on wasting years trying to breed a couple to 'throw right' if you want, I, and I expect most people, will stick to the more traditional, proven lurcher types for taking quarry in this country, BRITAIN. NO-ONE in this country needs a dog with the power you are talking about, for ANY quarry that can realistically be taken, wake up fella
  8. Can't answer that Wilf...too feckin busy killin masel laughing Snap , this black greyhound fella got WAY too much time on his hands! Too much much thinking and theory is NOT healthy for a person's mental wellbeing, evidently! lol
  9. It is a nice dog, but I would hazard a guess at it being about 8-9 months not 4. But, as I've been told a few times on here, I know feck all lol. Nice pup all the same
  10. Fair play BG, you don't give up easily lol
  11. That's a very nice dog mate, and some cracking pics in your album. How tall etc is he and do you know what else besides whippet is in him? Looks very much like our bitch, only smaller, collie/grey x deer/grey, especially the pics of him as a youngster. Anyway, whatever's in him he's a cracker
  12. Does anyone think that knowing the exact breeding of their dogs gives them a bias or certain expectation as to how their dogs should perform, and the type of quarry they should be capable of taking due to the breeding, eg bull x- fox, sal x-hare etc, and are then disappointed when the dog doesn't perform as expected because of the breeding? I've been wondering this for a while, as it seems to me that most people are just as happy with a lurcher x lurcher of 'pedigree unknown' and don't really care about exact percentages of breeding.
  13. but could it catch a hare i understand the wild pig thing but the reality is, the chances of one coming face to face with a wild pig over here is greater than winning the lottery. ive nothing agains the breed, infact any breed just its usefullness in creating a lurcher and the claims made Beddy/whippet x ridgeback sounds just the job for ALL BRITISH quarry, oh yeah, PRE BAN!
  14. Well it'd have to be brindle, they're faster, 'smash' mice during the day then FACT!!!
  15. legitimate pest control, like it or not, at least its controlled and regulated and done in season. personally im against it but if hares are around in those numbers and with the asbence of any other control method what would you do Leaving pest control, politics and shooting aside, personally I'd have them netted to replenish areas where they've become scarce
  16. Said this a couple of times before, but the fact that many people call it 'sport' is one of the main reasons it was banned. Similarly 'testing' your dog, or whatever you want to call it, says to all those opposed to hunting of any sort, that people who hunt with dogs are just out to terrify and persecute wildlife for a laugh. I think we wouldn't be in the situation we are now in if people didn't use the word 'sport'. It's HUNTING, and most people are more sympathetic about hunting to provide food for family etc, than they are about hunting for sport/fun. I know there's more to it political
  17. Nice dogs mate, are they from same litter, they look very similar type?
  18. Well, this thread certainly cheered my morning up lol. Am thinking of getting a few birds myself, but as you say pete, this genetics caper is WAY too much for me. A couple of variegated types of different colours I'm thinking will do me
  19. Seen a few around over the years, my mate's sister had a cracking bitch about 12 years ago, marked exactly like a doberman. They both got into the showing side of things and had the bitch spayed cos B & T isn't desirable in staffs, f**k knows why! The bitch was a belter, type, conformation etc and the best feet I've seen on any staff, before or since.
  20. Havn't had a whippet for years, but everytime I see this bitch I want another one lol. Cracking bitch, fairplay mate
  21. No f****r called Saluki's more than me lol..the old skeletons with dusters threw over them :-) but now I've got two of them,if they ain't no good they will make good draught excluders as they are big long b*****ds...I never bought these two Saluki x pups because of any "hype" my dogs only have myself to keep happy..what others think of them I really don't give a f**k..they ain't world beaters but they do for me..as for these pups well if they don't make any good our lass loves the darn things and they wont be going anywhere so I'll be paddling about with the c**ts until I'm in my 60's :-(
