  1. Same here, especially the bigger types. Our bitch is 29" tts and we only had her doing the usual exercise routine of a bit of roadwork and a few runabouts, every day, and only started her jumping over nothing more than fallen trees when out walking until she was over a year old, she was still puppyish and gangly at that age, then as her balance and coordination improved we started her over low jumps of about 18" and gradually built up the heights over a few months. Now she's a terrific jumper and will clear anything. Overcautious some might say, but I don't want to risk giving any of my pu
  2. @ lucky, I owe you an apology, it was night warrior that came out with the bolt cutter crap in the other thread, I apologise
  3. Well it definitely isn't dog B, cos lucky, being the 'sharp' f****r he is, forgot his bolt cutters!
  4. Gonna agree with whippet 99 here, coming out with this bollocks you've proved that you're a prick and helped farmers/landowners etc to be more determined not to let lads on their land
  5. As baw suggests, perhaps he's teething or maybe some small dental problem that you haven't spotted
  6. She's Collie/Whippet. I thought she was whip/collie/whip, anyway, very nice
  7. Welcome mate, some excellent info etc in the airgun section
  8. Looks good mate. That 1st pic of the 'rabbit' on the road, looks a big healthy looking f****r lol . Your mate's pup looks a nice type, looks familiar, would it be out of keeps' dogs?
  9. does it take mice regular ? Everyday! Regular as clockwork Is it brindle? I love deerhound x's, especially brindle ones
  10. Sandymere would it be possible that salukis have been in this country around the same length of time as arab horses, which came in at the time of the crusades around 900 years ago? If they could bring back horses, dogs wouldn't have been a problem. Also some of the earliest arab horses came in via spain, and I find it interesting that salukis and spaniels have similar ears and tails, maybe they weren't as strict, or observant, with their breeding policies at that time lol. I don't keep salukis or spaniels, but find canine and equine history very interesting, and you seem to know your stuff,
  11. That bitch is everything a good whippet should be, and what they are capable of. Outstanding little dog. And the pics that I W W puts up of her prove how versatile they can be. Belting dog
  12. like to see a whippet run were my dogs run broke in two mins me thinks any one with a whippet welcome to come and try it Just laughing at bbb 'scruffy' comment lol have a like run out Was a time when I'd have said I don't like anything with saluki, bull or bedlington in it, but my lad's mate has just aquired a 5th gen bull/grey x bed/grey and she's a cracker, 4-5 months old. Good feet, good thick coat, strong but and nice and racy. Still not keen on salukis though, but have seen some nice types with a fair old lump of saluki in em, but not 1st x's. I don't have a dog a

  14. 27'' whippet??? Lol I think he means his dog is 27" tts and built like a whippet, I think lol Ya so like a greyhound then or does he mean built like shit with the roach back and the overly steep crup with the slab sides and the bug eyes. Ya them dogs really look like they can run. I agree with you to an extent, some are not too good, same as with all breeds ruined by the K C, but the majority of whippets are very soundly constructed dogs that can race/work and run like f**k!
  15. 27'' whippet??? Lol I think he means his dog is 27" tts and built like a whippet, I think lol
  16. Nice bitch. Sometimes it's better not knowing exact breeding. Gives you less expectations of what your dog 'should' be capable of due to how it's bred.
  17. Some belting dogs on here lads, and all look to be capable of more than the odd session out. Don't understand why some people need to slate them, some of the gutsiest little b*****ds, working wise, I've seen have been purebred whippets
  18. Or, why are greyhounds fawn, brindle, black and pied as well as grey (blue)?
  19. Do you have Henry Weston's cider up your way too? lol
  20. Whats everyones opinion on a small lurcher to me 25tts is a big dog just curious N l, that's a good point. Your bitch at 19" is small, but at 44lb I'd say it's sort of medium size. Regarding height I would class small as 18-21, medium 22-25, big 25-28, very big 28+. But that's all a bit anal lol, we all know there are dogs of a particular size that shouldn't be able to do a certain job due to their size, or lack of it, but do it regularly anyway. Anyway, that bitch of yours looks a nice powerful thing
  21. Not fully with you on this one, fallow upwards then yes but most dogs pre-ban should have the job done by the time you get there, you get a few which don't get the hang of it and it turns into a screaming wrestling match but most of them seem to have a natural instinct to grab the right place and hold on, used to occasionally get a bit of damage from the front hooves if they ended up in a prone position, historically speaking of course. Yep, just saying that's how we used to go about it, in quick to help the dog. Never ran anything bigger than fallow back then and roe weren't that commo
