I know a few dogs that are catching deer regularly that haven’t been taught to jump that have some good body counts ?my old collie x bitch wasn’t taught to jump an she did very well on roe deer she was self taught to jump but never really needed it

In this game something I’ve found with hunting dogs/Lurchers you always get the people saying a Lurcher needs this training that training the other to be a good hunting catch dog I was blasted once for saying I didn’t stock break or teach my dog to jump 5 bar gates I don’t train stuff I don’t need it’s a waist of my time I train recall then retrieve after once recall is mastered I don’t go out my way purposely training much else. Me to mate I think bill was sound as a pound to be honest. He had a funny way of putting things an his spelling was shocking but once you could get your head round what he was going on about it made sense I do think bill knows his beans about hunting dogs collie x especially he was very knowledgeable guy I think he was a traveling man I did exchange a few pms with bill he helped me out with a bit of information I was after ?? Ive not said scratch dogs would add cloddyness ive said adding another Lurcher at this time could potentially add cloddyness based on what’s already in my bitch an wouldn’t want to add any whippet in there now in fear of producing small dogs there is already whippet blood in my bitch on both sides of her breeding. This litter (my bitches) is a good stamp from 23tts in bitchs to 26 in dogs the person that bred them bred them done a very good job I’d like to lock in type as this is the type I want to keep going with
