  3. took a bit of a stroll with my my mate sp.w from this site. went to let the mutts have a cool off in a brook....and it had all but dryed up! oh well, didnt bother murphy, he always been a messy git! i think the mud bath done him good though.....and his skin was sooooo much softer...lol. even managed to get a bit of permission out of the walk aswell...bumped into landowner as he was doing some gassing, he told us we are welcome to ferret as much as we like come winter time as he cant keep ontop of the rabbits. we used to ferret it anyway but he didnt know that!!! cheers, matt

  9. just doing a bit of research here and was wondering if there is a dramatic size difference in the 2nd gen deerhound cross, eg-deer x grey put to a deer x grey, not sure i have big enough land to do a 1st cross justice, im in the market for a new dog in the medium term and and the deerhound x has really caught my eye.not really had any experience of this cross so any help would be great any help would be great. also any pics and average sizes of your dogs would be nice aswell. cheers, matt
  10. typical lurcher, trying to get in the bins already cracking looking pup, good luck with it!
  11. has it started lamping yet? whats it like in the kennels? (just thought i would get that out the way before anyone else!)
  12. as far as i know mate you wont ctach much with abarn owl...their natural diet is small voles and mice and shrews, so not really a hunting bird. from what ive learnt form my pals who keep and breed birds of prey , they make bad pets and are better off in the wild....much nicer to see a barn owl skimming the fields on a summers eve than couped up in an aviary.....not having a dig or anything just thought i would inform you....maybe the proper bird lads on here can shoot me down or back me up......lol best of luck finding em good permenant homes! cheers, matt
  13. cracking dog there mate! we may lamp the same places.......full of road kill! lol
  14. i have a beddy/whipp x grew, he 23" and smoothe coated! very loyal and bloody fast, but he seems to have picked the coat from the whippet side, but tinks he is a terrier when there is quarry in a bush.....you can imagine the results! not a world beater by any means but he does what i need of him and isnt afraid of the sharp end for a lightly built dog!
  15. great gesture mate, good to see somone willing to help. like the bit about the urban camo brigade! class!!!!!! best of luck on both fronts!!!

  17. she looking good! if you are still interested in a wheaten to put over i can highly recomend my mates dog! good luck with her!
  18. i agree j.v. the rougher coat of the wheatenx is an advantage in covering bramble or barbed wire marks should the dogs hit a bit in the dark while chasing rabbits, seen some great bull crosses and also a few good wheaten crosses, but purly for personal reason i would go for the wheaten x. im not too familiar with many good working bull types but have heard of and seen a few good working wheatons and i mean in the field...im sure there are some good straight bull types out there, just dont seem to see many of em for obvious reasons i suppose!
  19. i wouldnt put my mortgage on it but id go for a bit of wheaten in the mix somwhere, i dont own any terriers but i wouldnt mind owning that, looks a cracker! keeps us updated on the pups mate
  20. if i had to pay for a ferret i think 7quid is fair enough! not £20 like somone was punting em on at! hope u get homes for em all mate. got to my local garden centre and you can pick up a lesser spotted black masked ferret for the princley sum of 50notes! best of luck!
  21. same dam as mine, but she was put to a 1st cross wheaten/grey. mine turned out 22" and a lot lighter at40/45lbs. but still mad as a hatter! are you still in contact with craig shinyspade? he looks a good solid dog does that ozzy!!!
  22. ive never paid for a ferret in me life! breed when u need, and give suplus to mates! never sold a ferret either, as long as i know they going to good homes thats all that matters! good luck with the sale mate, my local garden centre sells em for 50 quid each!
  23. would u consider a slice of humble pie in exchange for said head gear? now now, this really has to stop.......errrr on 2nd thoughts, nah carry on
  24. theres no shame in losing..........graciously. takes alot of bollox to jack like he did, but even more bollox to to plough on and give the dogs and ldr the respect thats deserved....seems theres a distinct lack of bollox from our cornish friend! well done to all that took part in the comp as i dont think my 2 scabby mutts would of even made the reserves bench. ive kept me gob shut through out all this, but cant deny the smile that crept across my face when i read the result! shit happens mark, live with it and a congratulations for the winner should be winging its way from u as we speak!
