  2. sorry for hijacking the thread, but, ive seen allsorts of whippets big and small, what lines would i be looking for if i wanted my whippet to be on the bigger side? say around 22 or even possibly 23" if at all possible...i know i could go for a whippxgrey but just wondereing about whippets.... cheers, matt
  3. yes lads i agree, the removal is a last resort, he will be given every chance to get used to it.....in normal life he isnt affected, but as we all know working dogs take a bit more punishment, especially on the feet and toes. hopfully he will adjust and i will stop being paranoid about having a 3 legged lurcher...lol cheers for replies fellas, matt
  4. the reason i ask the question is, he knocked his a toe a while back and it seems to have set slightly wrong, the vet also said he may just get used to running with slightly wonky toe.....the main thing is i have time on my side due to it being the end of the season, so got all summer to see how he goes! oh, and intelligence isnt somthing this particular dog is blessed with! cheers, matt
  5. its the inside toe on front left foot mate. he not a coursing dog, just a mooching dog really and a bit of lamping, but i can see what you mean with the turning, this was 1 of my concerns, but the vet says he should be ok....the vet i use also attends the local greyound track and services a few racing kennels in my area, cheers for the reply!
  6. just wondering if any of you helpful lot have ever had a lurcher that has had to have a toe removed? there s a small possibility 1 of mine might have to have an inside front toe removed and was wondering how much this will affect perfomance, my vet says he should be fine if i choose to go ahead with the op, any advice would be great. cheers, matt

  11. its always nice when a dog suprises, ive had it myself from my "ferreting" dog. although his retrieving leaves a lot to be desired as he only a lightly built fella, but he will gaurd a shot fox, just incase it runs off...
