I had a pup do it he contracted gastroenteritis and died was not nice keep an eye for symptoms blood etc in it's shite

My comment was more aimed at dog's purely of bedlington/running dog mix ie greyhound or whippet that line there has bull and other thing's in the mix so it could be pretty hard to say it was the beddy that made them as good as they are mate

Ye can have the best trained luchers going and entered correctly if they aint got the heart or drive they still aint gonna make it a collie cross if it aint got the above will still pick and choose run's and stalk stuff, a coursing dog will still pull up on a hare, a bull cross will turn its nose up when something bite's it and a dog will still turn away or lift its head when running deer or buck's or stag's all that training is a load of bollox and just makes the dog more pleasurable to own it counts for a smaller part in the field i think and it fall's more to a dog's heart and drive to get
-
The best training in the world still doe's not make a dog doe's it ? a dog with no heart is born that way and no amount of training will make it have it, so if ye keep well trained dogs with faults ie jacker's or lacking in a certain area thats up to you i wouldnt keep them though
-
Ive never noticed ye on here before but to be fair i do agree with what a few folks have said ye are abit strange fella

Whin's biggest fan is himself mate and he is his own worst enemy

Ive seen a dog that could stop them on his own but couldnt hold them or wouldnt hold them long and if they turned and dropped there heads he would slow to a halt and there was not a drop of bull blood in him great dog doubled up with a slower weighty anchor dog though did he have bedlington in him? Nope it's sire was a coursing type dog and it's dam was a doxhope deerhound x greyhound 2nd gen i belive it was a 1 trick pony to be fair not much good for anything else was a coward to be honest but it could run and it had the nack with a red stag (if they were running away) infact thats not

Possibly andy on a whole they are from what i have seen the worst dog's ive seen run, i know theres shite in every cross but there is also decent animals but about 90 per cent of all beddy crossed animals ive seen were poor a far higher average than other crosses ive seen them run rabbits and run out of puff ive seen them run hares and couldnt do it ive seen them jack on foxes and spar and bark at them and ive seen them push roe and fallow now i know there is dogs of all cross that do this but when ye see lets say 10 of one cross run and 9 of them do the above it does not give ye much hope i

More than likely Stabba i'd of been a Bedlington x man ...i have always liked their ethic towards work ..cracking dogs imo, fill a game bag on the lamp, have seen some real game little feckers for foxes etc: most would pull deer upto Roe size, good ferreting dogs, handy dogs for hunting up during the day..i know plenty of other types can do the same but i always said if i had to start off again then it would be a Bedlington x for me ..ATB Andy I wouldnt own 1 if it came with a years free dog food and a solid gold food and water bowl

Stop talking pish whin ye spoon your an A-hole ye dog's are average and pup's can catch on ye land infact ye dont even talk a good night or day with the dogs ye talk pish all round
-
I must be impatient i take mine out as soon as they have had there jabs they sit and watch in the 4x4 while older dogs run they are allowed out when older dog's have caught, when i walk on the lamp they are on a lead watching while an older dog run's i like to keep them going through the motions either watching the lamp getting in a motor prior to going out i like them to know when they get out of a motor in a field something is there etc etc and depending on the dog i will run them from 6 mths onwards and progress on runs and quarry and judge the dogs maturity how fast or slow it is allowed

what slip leads does everyone use?
hedz31 replied to SteveRasbridge's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Dog rope lead choker type cut choker end of melt it abit on gas hob and dab it stop it fraying job done loop's already in to put round ye wrist only costs 2 or 3 quid for a rope lead or just buy a 4x4 and drive the field's then ye dont need a slip lead
