    stoke on trent the lad he ripped off had saved hard to buy a dog and it was a whippet he wanted so when he seen this bitch up for sale and the post said it was lamping he was over the moon . but the bitch had never worked in its life later he said he had only lamped rats to cover his ass but in his post when selling the pup he states the bitch is working day and night on rabbits take a look. when found out hunting life just remove the post and all prof he is a lieing dog peddler so people on here do not know so he can just carry on conning people this to me is not right he should of been

    Beefdripping lard pigs skin anything with a high fat content I have a factory butchers that supplies me with dog mince which is cheep he also gives me trotters and pigskin with the fat still on it makes brill pork scratchings the dogs go mad for it but you have to watch how mutch you give them they soon put a layer of fat on .

    I get pork trotters from my butcher free they are full of fat and the dogs love em .Some times i cook them and add them to a complete food My dogs only put weight on in the close season.A dog I used to own looked like an add for the RSPCA I could never put a back on her but she could run all night I would"nt worry to much unless your dog seems to tire quickly.

    How long have you owned the dog seems odd missing after a rabbit not haveing a dig but usually go astray after longer runs

    My grandad allways had running dogs he lived on the fens every sunday my brother and I would walk his dogs I was only 5 or 6 at the time one sunday we were walking one of his dogs and we put a hare out of some cover the dog shot off I was sh*tting myself as the dog went out of site and seemed as as if she had run miles away.The thought of going back to my grandad and telling him his dog had run off ,he was a strict old bugger,.as we stood staring in disbelief the hare followed by the dog came back into the field where she began winding it down twisting and turning untill she seemingly effortle

    I"v lost 2 in the last year both were very good dogs with years of hard work put in them one probably the best dog I"v had the pleasure of running it takes time to get over them if you think any thing of them ,not a day goes by that I think what if .Buy a well bred pup and go forward no amount of what ifs change anything but a new dog a new challenge.Nothing takes your mind of things like looking after a pup.

    Give the dog a try before you buy that way you"v only yourself to blame if it turns out a donkey never part with cash unless happy with what you"v seen if they refuse a trial dont buy common sense realy.

    I would think twice before you let her go on rats if you have a chance of large amounts of rats i would get a dog just for rats it tends to makes them hard on every thing once they have been bit a few times I suppose it depends on what you do with your rabbits do you eat them yourself or sell them because they will be bruised after she"s been ratting.Get a Whippet x Terrier for rats it will give you loads of fun if you have plenty to go at and save your Whippet for rabbits.JMO for what its worth.

    In my younger days a few of us used to get together on a weekend for a dig on a couple of digs one of the lads bought some wacky backy all I can say is if you get stoned hunting or robbery are only two of the things that are imposible the best you could hope for is finding your car to sleep in so you did,nt die of exposure.Most of the day was spent laughing your tits of at things that were,nt in the least funny but as you get older you can look back at all the stupid things you"v done and lived to tell the tale.I think for the most part you could"nt get two activities that were further apart.T

    I,v run and bred whippets for thirty years I own other x,s as well but I,ll always have a whippet in my team . I,v had good ones and not so good ones but never one that was good for nothing.The best I,v ever had made me smile every day she regularly caught 3 and 4 on the fens and silenced a few saluki x lads.Dont get me wrong I own saluki x dogs from good lines but this Whippet was a top dog and I will probably never see another like her every one that saw her run and there were many complimented on the way she ran .Her best day was 6 out of 7 and in that same year she caught just under 300

    On the fens your lucky to find anything to jump I do teach them to jump wire sheep netting electric fences ect,it would be imposible to jump the hedges as most are 20 to 25 feet tall.About 10 years ago I hade a deerhound x that jumped a gate like that metal one in a farm yard and caught his back leg in the top angle and snapped it had to be PTS was it worth the effort of teaching him to jump ,not for me sheep netting and wire but not gates.

    I had a dog and bitch less than 10 seconds together and she had 3 pups .He jumpt on I pulled him off did,nt even tie I did,nt mind as they had bred before and they had produced some good dogs .
